interestingly enough, it looks almost like a very thin screen layer. like the one that the protector that these have on them on delivery. Almost like it will peel off but I am not going to mess with it.

I swear that my MFT screen is more durable.

I will take my money back. I am in no hurry since the car in garaged for the winter anyway.
Well the Sync 3 screens are glass AFAIK so it may have a protector on it....

these fleabay parts sellers are hilarious. $380 for just a screen without the APIM. Oh you cant use the module, we need to know what kind of car its going on to get the right one. Oh well I reached out to a few yards yesterday so hopefully they get back to me tomorrow. Got to call about a bezel too, see how much I can get that for.

Isn't that the truth!

My APIM with NAV was $486 shipped from Central Mass to seacoast NH. That is within the acceptable range IMO.

Some listings on car-part.com give decent details but they all suck at documenting the part and condition. others have zero detail, even their site just leads you back to the car-part search results.

Also, they take the dumbest pictures, worst angles, and for the love of God, clean the lens on the camera once in a while! I know, I expect alot of salvage yard workers and you can't take pictures of everything.

On my front..We'll see what happens when I call today about the pitted screen. I tried to flatten the gouges with a soft plastic tool and reduced some of the blemishes but still very noticeable.

I looked high and low this weekend, while watching the wildcard games, for details on the conductive Sync 3 screen and the coating or film and came back with nothing. If peeling it off was a confirmed option I would do that. I guess I could check with Ford. I wish I had an extra one to experiment on.

Yea I tried searching as well and couldn't come up with anything conclusive, but capacitive screens by definition have to be made with glass.

Just wanted to drop a link here to this, since one of the goals of this thread is to come up with a solid answer to "what as-built should I use to configure my non-Mustang APIM?"

I've got a 2016 track pack GT350 and would like to upgrade my base radio to SYNC 3 without navigation or satellite. Newbie to all this, and maybe dumb question, but will any 8" screen work with SYNC 3? When buying a non-NAV APIM, can I get an APIM module separate from the screen and then just install any 8" screen? Seems like a fairly straightforward install from base to non-NAV.

I don't suppose there's any wiring in the console that will utilize the switches in the new bezel I'll need like tech 350s, right?

And finally, if I wanted to search car-part.com, is there an easier way to search than to search every single Ford vehicle separately?

Thanks in advance...

No, Sync 3 is different in all respects. The touchscreen and the APIM are a combination and aftermarket units have no provisions to communicate with the Ford APIM. Don't buy one without the other because you may end up with a MFT screen and that is not the same thing.

I'm not sure what wiring you're referring to? If you mean can you use the toggle switches on the 8" bezel, yes. You just need to change a few things via FORScan to enable them. Be aware that bezel's for GT350s are extremely rare, you would be better of calling Mike R at ANF WBL (@fordsvtparts) and asking him for availability

Thank god! You build that and I'll keep working these and we can make this swap easier and much more accessible for everyone.

Finding screens is relatively easy enough on car part but finding APIMS is crazy.

They should come as one assembly, don't buy them separately. I'm seeing several Sync 3 APIM/Touchscreens listed on Car Part Pro. You can use any Ford with Sync 3, you just need Mustang brackets. I thought of offering an exchange service so that people who were removing MFT could send me their brackets if they were using a screen and module from a Mustang in exchange for a MFT to Sync 3 Hub adapter, but I'm not sure how that would work.

Most of the ones I see are just the screen, I search for Fusions, Fiestas, F150's Escapes, MKC etc. Most of the yards that dont list pictures never respond to requests for pictures so its tough to know what they are including.
