Brand new GT350R in the garage.
My garage is currently at 48 degrees.
Tonight the lows int he mid 20s with a high tomorrow of 26 degrees.

I am scheduled to take the R to the local Ford dealer to take off the Cup2 (with 65 miles on them) and put on PS4S. Also, will swap stock lugs for black Gorilla lugs while we are there.... and also complete the PDI that the selling dealer did not (take out shipping blocks, instal splitter).

I know the whole thing about the Cup2s not supposed to go under 40 degrees and all that. I am a bit nervous about taking the car out tomorrow. It's only about a 10 mile drive.....

Am I nuts to do this? OR have I spent too long reading on this forum?

I just REALLY want the PS4S and the splitter and everything ready to go for when proper driving weather does arrive.

Thank you in advance.

If it's dry out, I say go for it. Just be safe and cautious both there and back cuz I'm sure that back end will be more than willing to get squirrelly if you give it a bit too much right pedal.

I drove my GT with the PS4Ss a couple weeks ago in 33* weather and it was fine. Dry out and I kept my foot out of it.

I have used cup 2 all winter in MI in 10-20 degree dry days and no issues. I have done track days where it was 38 degrees in the morning, no issues (besides zero grip for 3 good laps!).

you will be fine driving to the dealer.

According to TireRack, the PS4's are also not supposed to be operated at temperatures under 40 degrees F. For your short jaunt to the dealer, I would expect them to be OK.

Am I reading this incorrectly? I take the below as I'm good to go over freezing.

"Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle."

You'll be fine in the dry. Just drive carefully.

Just don't let those SC2s freeze or there is a high probability they will crack and be ruined. 10 miles is 10 miles but hopefully the drive itself does not take too long. Also do not let it sit outside the dealership in those freezing temps. Make sure it is brought inside right away.

All went well. Garage is heated and stays around 50 or better. Quick drive to dealer and car was pulled inside immediately. Thank you to all who commented.

The tires don't care what the ambient temp is, only what temp the rubber is. Just do burnouts before leaving and then burn outs at every stop light :)
