Make sure your car has this piece too if you want full strength from the upper K brace and strut tower brace.

Well, look at that!! Never even knew about that piece.

Luckily for me, the braces I added are mostly for looks. Ok, 100% for looks. :)

Does the performance pack come with the black brace?
Two black braces the one in the picture above is steel, the one people refer to as upper K brace is steel and the silver painted steel tower brace.

The long one is steel. The short one plastic.

Could someone please confirm that this is the same for the EB?

Full Black Brace: FR3Z-16K038-A

Strut Tower Brace: FR3Z-16A200-A

Two Additional Nuts: -W712334-S442
From looking at this post, it looks like the Ford Racing strut tower brace is the same shape.

So I would venture to say that yes, it will fit the EB. All dimensions should be the same as far as the firewall and strut towers are concerned.

Anybody got a part number for this piece? Or know what it's called?

And why is this third piece important?

I also want the strut tower brace, but was unaware of the other 2 parts previously.

Because it ties the front flimsy sheet metal firewall to the real stronger windshield frame and firewall. Strength comes from triangulation tying as many things to together as possible with as straight a line as possible. Strength comes when loads are taken in compression and tension. Bend strength is the weakest or in other words it takes a lot more weight and mass to add bending strength than if you can add compression or tension to the point you're trying to strengthen.

Does this accomplish the same thing?

No that goes on the bottom of the car and will no affect at the top of the strut towers. Think of it like this if you have a shoe box without a lid and you put a load on one of the top edges they bend pretty easy. It doesn't matter if the bottom is double or triple strength the edges bend. Put the lid on the box and the tops edges become much stronger. The strut tower braces all taken together are the lid on the box. The cross brace alone is like taping a Popsicle stick across the middle not nearly as strong as the lid.

If you could put the Popsicle stick from corner to corner that would be much stronger than putting it in the middle side to side. That is triangulation.

By third piece, I meant this thing (black piece at top?). Part # and why this is needed?
