A new 5.2 block is under $2k.
Mmr 3.84 crank is $1k
5.85 billet rods are $2k
The aforementioned mahle pistons are $1k with rings
So you’re in it for $6k before bearings and balancing. I don’t think that’s so terrible as compared to what’s available.

If your stupid rich, go for it.
Haha ya after getting quotes for labor to machine sleeves, it will cost a little over 5k in total

If building a whole new engine and buying a new block it isn’t bad. Buying the 5.2 block means you won’t have to sleeve and you won’t need machine work. Makes a lot of sense. But when going from the point of view of keeping the same block and just trying to rebuild the engine it becomes pretty expensive.

I don’t follow your logic here. Your block is totaled if it needs sleeves.

No if you use aftermarket sleeves you can bore the block to 5.2.

Right but we’ve already established that a new block is cheaper than sleeving your block to achieve 5.2 liters.
Ah ya it’s like 200 cheaper

Honestly I'd just buy the assembled tested short block from Jackson1320 unless money is not a problem.

But then I'd go with the MMR tall deck wet block and shoot for 400 CI

One of my engine builders told me he would be worried about using a non sleeved 5.2 block with PTWA lining with the stroker kit due to increased side loading expected with shorter rods .
I’ve done the math to calculate side-load as a function of crank angle, cylinder pressure, stroke, rod length, etc. When engine builders say things like that it’s usually very generalized and qualitative. It’s factually correct that shorter rod/longer stroke increases side loading, but by how much? Is the same engine builder concerned about side loading when you add a pound of boost or advance the timing 2 degrees? Those things increase side loading as well. Oem limits spark timing to limit cylinder pressure which also limits side loading, but most tuners max out that table. If the builder isn’t worried about side loading effects of boost and spark, then I have to wonder about the validity of the concern.

MMR sells a 6L or 6.5L coyote. But the short block costs 30k lmao.
No complaint‘s here from me about RPG pricing . I have an RPG built SB(non sleeved 5.2/CP ) in my Hellion car and a built sleeved Voodoo as a spare for my GT 350.

The stroker SB is very good value and I considered getting one (especially at the introductory price ) for a Fox /coyote swap ….

Not an expert like you as you can probably tell .😂

Just repeating the reservations he expressed… he may have just been trying to discourage me from having him build me yet another engine 🥺

RPG clearly does not have the same concerns
