not wanting leather and saving $$$$ are the best reasons for base

"Poverty Package?" Right here. I ordered a base V6, manual, with 17" wheels :-)

Oh, I did add one option. All weather floor mats. In Canada that's not really optional!

Seriously though, my 2012 V6 had plenty of power. I'm glad Ford is still offering the same mill. The 2012 had the Pony Package, and the only thing I will miss on the 2015 base is not having the ambient lighting.

I don't really miss the ambient lighting. It was cool in the 2011's and Bullitt but I don't really notice that I don't have it. Some of the bling like aluminum pedals and lighted door sills I thought I would miss as well, but nope. The only real option I wish I would have gotten is the performance pack because it allows the car to be driven closer to it's potential. Took one of my favorite back roads on the way home yesterday and this car can really reach the limits of the 235 Pirellis in a hurry. I'll eventually fix that though.

The car is just so fundamentally good that I really don't feel like I'm missing anything by not having the premium. It's not that I don't like all that stuff. I just don't miss it. Plus I didn't want leather this time. I just don't think you can go wrong with this car.. It's an excellent value in all of it's configurations. If anything the competition gets stiffer the more money you spend.

I still can't believe how hard it is to find a PP car. Dealers loaded up their GTs with options but rarely PP, leave alone Recaros

Highly considering a base GT with the PP. Would love to slap a blower on it as well.

Cleaned up the thread, guys enough with the insults against each other. If this can't be debated while keeping it civil, the thread will be closed.
Thanx... It started out ok then went right to ugly pretty fast? I just don't get why members have to slam each other?? It can be done in PM's and won't involve everyone else that may be benefitting from the info relating to the initial question in the very first post!!!!

IMHO.... Let's get along people....this is supposed to be a friendly group of Mustang enthusiasts ??? Correct??

GT vs EB, PP vs Non-PP, Auto vs Manual, Premium vs Base, centrifugal SC vs TVS SC, and the list goes on.

The tribal mentality seems to run deep on the forum and members always seem to need to justify why their decision is superior to someone else's. Then they band together in a circle jerk. Very annoying how quickly people's feelings get hurt around here.

Originally I had just the base GT on order with not too much more for the options...but after reading up more on the PP and the Premium, I decided to go with that. Reason being this is my first-ever brand new car, and definitely a reward for what I went through to pay for it. So I figured I'd spoil myself a bit and get it as optioned out as I wanted.

Stripped Down "Poverty Specs"

This forum is the worst I've ever seen of people who think their opinion should be gospel fact. The car they want should be the only way it's built in their eyes and they think anyone who differs is stupid/lazy/wuss/not a performance person.

I think it's due to the mixing of backgrounds. On most sites, there is a common background. Classic mustangs, performance, etc. The advent of this car combined with the addition of a turbo 4 pot has brought several different car based backgrounds together and they all think the others are ignorant/childish/not serious/lazy/immature/old farts/outlaws/drag queens/dyno queens/track stars etc.

I've done the stripped down stang thing. Fox coupe with all manual everything, even no ac. Sn95 (1995) gts model etc. But I've worked hard and always wanted stuff I couldn't afford. So I decided last year when I saw this one to check every box. That was my plan, to reward myself. Well I was offered the le which has more boxes checked than you can get (auto and pp woohoo), and I'm glad I did. I do, sometimes, miss the rawness of a stripper (ironic statement isn't it) but not in my daily driver. I have a factory five for that. It's more unrefined than any factory built stang, no matter how stripped or manual, ever. And it's fun. Two different experiences. Only you, as an individual, can decide what you want out of your driving experience in a given car.

Agree with ya SVTFreak...two little children will play well together, but add a third child and that's when the trouble starts. For all these years, the GTs and the V-6s played well together...but add the EBs and commotion ensues...just like little children. "My engine's better that yours"! LOL.

both GREAT points. but in my mind, if I was shopping for a car for MPG, i'd get a Prius, and if I was looking for luxury, i'd get a Lexus RC.
When I started hanging out on this site, right after Ford showed the real 2015 car in late 2013, it was my plan to order the same car that OP is talking about, the "poverty special." A GT, MT, no options at all. Hmm.

I have to say, I was influenced by the effortless performance of a 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe I had for a few years, and especially by the 2007 Lincoln MKZ I drove for five years and 110K miles until I traded it for the Mustang. I found I liked that comfortable car, a lot. And despite having had six other hard-knuckle Mustangs in the past, in my heart of hearts I didn't want to go back there again. I realized that what I wanted was the performance and cachet of the Mustang with the comfort and convenience of those two cars. The G35 convinced me that I was ready for an AT performance car, and the MKZ swayed me to the Premium with Premier leather. Besides, I really wanted Navigation, and have not regretted ordering MFT at all.

So I went from thinking I wanted the cheapest possible GT to ordering a car that stickered a hair under $40K. Along the way I considered an EB PP AT but ultimately decided I really wanted the Coyote and all the toys.

That's why Ford calls them "options."
