Speaking of TPMS... if a set of tires is mounted and balanced, and then you add TPMS sensors, will they need to be rebalanced?

I put a set of staggered 19" PP take offs on my 2016 and after a few miles the TPMS synced to the car and all is fine, just as stated no tool required.

Thanks for this thread

i ended up going through 3 sets, yes 3, tpms sensors before my car, the tool, and the sensors decided to play nice.

they are not oem sensors, so maybe that's what it is. but i definitely needed the tool.

Bringing up this thread just to ask a follow up: does it have to be exactly 25 miles? Or can take up to 25 miles for it to "learn"?

I swapped on a set of 2016 oem wheels with tpms sensors onto my 15 the other day, it's been at least 10-15 miles and still nothing. Just curious

Results will vary. Some have them relearn very quickly while some do not. When I went to aftermarket tires/wheels mine took right at 25 miles to relearn.

Might have missed it, but what sensors are you using? If they're Oro-Tek, then I completely understand the issues. Biggest POS sensors I've ever had the displeasure of using. V8Venom can attest to this.

just buy OEM sensors can get a full OEM set for under $80 on ebay, set it and forget it.

I had TPMS replaced on our 06 IS350. They pulled the tire bead down to expose the sensor to change it but never dismounted the tire, so it never needed to be rebalanced

Yup those sensors are pure trash! Haven't worked in my car since I put them on and yet American Muscle keeps sending them to me to replace. Umm...no thanks.

If you get new sensors and they arent your old ones they will not program to the car without a tool. I bought some factory ones off a guy on ebay for my aftermarket wheels and drove 2 months with the light on. Tried to start the learning process and do the "let the air out trick" of each tire but still didnt work. I ended up going up to the local dealership and they did it on the spot for free.

I have 2 sets of wheels....my originals, and some P6G.... both sets are fitted with genuine ford sensors.:)

I've swapped the wheels over a number of times, and they've synced with the TPMS every single time.

All I did was swap the wheels, press reset in the menu, and go for a drive... within a mile or so the new sensors are reading fine:thumbsup:

First 2 sets were oro-tek, yes. Third set was a different brand and worked. OEM might work without a tool, but aftermarket is hit or miss...so this thread title is a little misleading.
