Guess the thing to do is just buy OEM sensors and you won't have any issues

Go to Driver Assist
that's WEIRD, mine does not have this at all.
2015 GT Premium

Is your car a US car?

Also my light is still on, after well over 30mi of driving. So I guess this thread is not entirely true, or at least not for everyone.
The wheels/sensors I put on are OEM from Ford, never been taken apart straight from another mustang (16 gt)

I have two sets of wheels, and my car is stuck on my race wheels. I can't get it recognize my street wheels at all. The deflate procedure didn't work and neither does the training tool. (Race wheels are in the garage, so if a I drive less than 100 miles and return to the garage the car still thinks the race wheels are the real deal. If I drive more than 100 miles I'll get the error light until I return home.

Funny thing is the car used to be programmed to the street wheels for a while and one day (probably after a 100+ mile round trip to an autox on the race set) it switched and now I can't get it back on my street set).

So I seem to have an issue I haven't seen other people have, and yeah you can get into a state where the normal programming procedures definitely don't work.

What I don't think I've tried yet is going on a long trip to get the error light to show up and then using the training tool. (or moving the race wheels away from the garage and shielding them so the car won't keep detecting them)

Mine is fixed!

So somewhere I read that the procedure for programming the TPMS (2016 Premium w/ PP) was to:
1) put the car in power accessory mode (on but engine not running)
2) cycle the hazard toggle 6 or so times.
3) the car will honk and prompt you to program the left front tire

That procedure does bring up the usual prompts for programming the left front tire etc, but it did NOT ever work to actually program the tires!

The other procedure you'll see (which completely worked) is:
1) start with the car completely off.
2) Press the brake pedal once and release.
3) Then cycle the accessory power (but don't start the engine) on, off, on, off, and on. (cycle the power on three times and leave it on)
4) while leaving it on, press the brake pedal once more
5) then cycle off, on, off, on, off, and back on. (cycle the power on three times, leaving it on)
5) the car will honk and show the usual prompts.

Both procedures left the car in what seemed like identical states with the same prompts, but unlike the first one, the second procedure actually works!

You'll still need a training tool or (i assume) to drain 10 or so lbs of pressure out of the tires to get each tire to register.

FWIW, my wheels have aftermarket TPMS sensors, not Ford branded ones (if it matters).

Anyway, one mystery successfully solved!

Geez Ford, the only thing missing is to do the hokey pokey somewhere in the middle of all of that!

I'm having an issue with my oem ford sensors. I bought them to put a set in my velgen wheels. I needed new rear tires already, so I had the rears put in...no fronts yet. When I drove home from the tire shop, it was reading pressures for three wheels. Both rear wheels, and the front right wheel all showed 28psi. The rears were filled to 34-35. After a day or two, it stopped reading them altogether. I'm going to try the relearn procedure with no tool and see how it goes.

Actually I think I know the reason why now

Since you have introduced a split of new sensors (2) and 2 of them on the front the car already had synced, you could have caused confusion on the system and thats why its not reading.

Just reset them with a tool ( any local tire shop should have the tool) and youll be good to go again.

Hope you guys can help

I recently purchased a set of performance package wheels from Shelby they said it comes with the tpms install I received the wheels this past Saturday and I can't get it to sync up, the only it reconginze was the rear driver side after the 25 mile drive but then a message came up saying tire pressure system monitor fault, I have tried almost everything the hazard light and accessory learning mode and releasing air. I really don't want to spend $40 on a tool I'm pretty sure I won't use again.

Any help would be appreciated

Stop by the local dealership or your tire shop and see if they have the tool. Usually if the letting air out method doesn't work the tool won't either.
In that case the tire shop can get into the tire and either replace the sensor or what I found is unscrewing the sensor from the valve stem and reattaching it seems to 'enable' them.

Yea I kind figure I ended up at the dealer.. tomorrow I'm going to disconnect the battery and retry the relearning procedure maybe the module will forget the old tpms sensors, just a thought

I would find out what brand sensors they send out...if it's OEM then the ford place or tire shop should fix ya up like above poster said...if its the other brands, you could've gotten a bad sensor

See my post above about how the hazard light procedure does NOT work although it looks like it should. Do the power cycling procedure instead and then try to drain pressure or use the tool. Using the power cycle method to put the car into training mode should give you better results.

I tried both nothing, it's weird every 20miles it reconginze the driver rear tire but then a message comes up saying theirs a fault in the system. I order the tool should get by Friday hopefully that can sync it

Thanks

I never did double back on this... I ended up getting snow tires and wheels from Tire Rack, and factory TPMS sensors from elsewhere... had them installed after the fact and DID NOT need to rebalance. Surprising, but there's zero vibration. The sensors also detected automatically, so my thanks to the OP for saving me some $.

That should sync the system up with the retrain tool.
