We only use the OEM sensors and tool on this chassis. We haven't experienced any issues, the cost difference isn't worth it in our opinion. $50-75 for aftermarket sensors vs. $100 for OEM on a set of wheels and tires is not worth the potential issues. It seems plenty of the better aftermarket sensors work most of the time.

IM noticing this is happening to certain cars and certain cars are fine. We have been testing it on my buddies cars to see a reason to maybe why this is occurring.

First I'm hearing of this...when I bought wheels from N4SM I had them include TPMS and they sync'd right up, in fact I never got an idiot light for them when I swapped the wheels.
Same here as well. Display was froze on 31 lbs. for almost exactly 25 miles before sensors started working and updated with no warning indicators ever coming on.

Black stems as well...

I'm not sure this is accurate. I absolutely to use a TPMS trainer on a set of aftermarket wheels I bought with TPMS but not FoMoCo modules, just generics. Only way they connected to the car... maybe I just didn't accomplish driving enough 25 miles...? Haha.

I bought Ford OEM off Amazon for $75, sync'd up in under 5 miles.

Not to antagonize the OP, but rather adding info:

When my 2016 5.0 was three days old I ran over a wheel weight [!!] and it punctured the left rear tire. I pulled over, rotated the LF to the LR (so I wouldn't destroy the differential on the way to the dealership) and put the spare on the LF. TPMS still showed the flat tire on the LR, when I had already put the factory wheel & tire in the LR position.

TLDR: the TPMS on my 2016 5.0 doesn't update automatically

I've put >200 miles on my $70 amazon sensors that haven't learned yet. I'll have the tool tomorrow, I'll check the box for any indication as to brand or actual manufacturer when I go to the garage next.
