Hopefully we can still be friends Norm.
No problem. I really didn't intend any flame but sometimes "bluntly spoken" comes across like that anyway.

But they aren't the most powerful Mustangs in Ford history. I agree the body design is good and they have the nicest interior of any Mustang, but the 15-17 Stangs were slower to 60 than the Coyote S197s.

If you are talking modding potential, then yes, the S550 has more power potential on a stock block from aftermarket parts than any other Mustang.
That's an internet myth. I owned both. They ran the exact same 1/4 mile e/t's. And cut the same sixty foot when stock.

The entire frame is aluminum so is the hood and I believe the fenders as well. There isn't a lot of carbon fiber used unless optioned in. The Z06 and the ZR1 use more carbon.
The main carbon fiber bit is the targa roof. They're amazingly light.

Norm, I've been flat out wrong before, so this wouldn't be the first time as I'm only human. I've also got a screw loose "up there" with no way to tighten it.

Yeah, in this thread a page or two back when you said production of 60s Mustangs were less than current model years. :cwl:

I'm just ribbing ya!

Stock is fine - as long as you are satisfied with your car the way its mfr built it. That's satisfied in every respect.[...]

Not often I disagree with Norm, but...

"every" respect might be a bit too much. Every time I've taken on a different car, it was because I was satisfied in enough respects to make the choice. And if I modified a car it was because I was dissatisfied in the pertinent respects. Come to think of it, the balance point on a few cars was far enough off center that get rid of it was the appropriate mod. '66 Barracuda "Formula S" for one.

We all have different opinions. I'm well aware of the horsepower specification of these Mustangs. To me, faster means more powerful. There's a direct correlation there. The 18 is faster yes, the 15-17 is NOT. You can't count the GT500. It's a special model, not a regular model. Just like the GT350.
I could make a faster car with less power. Just because that's what it means to you doesn't make it accurate. Weight and the ability to put power down is why the Coyote S197 is quicker in stock form. Not disputing that, but it isn't from more being more powerful.

My 2015 is bone stock. I’ve looked at all the mods you can do to these Mustangs. I’m going to keep mine stock. And my reasons are:

435hp is all I need. 700 would be cool but for what?

When I see the old classic Mustangs for sale on Mecum’s and Barrett Jackson, the ones that are bone stock from the factory go for more $$.
So, let me see here... you’re retired now....and if you wait 50yrs your car will be worth more money than a Modified one of the same year!! It really doesn’t make any sense to me at all! Hell, I just bought a 2019 BULLITT!!! I’ll have a tone of Mods by the time I’m done!!! Don’t give a crap about the resale value or getting my money back!!! Paid $182G’s for my house....it’s now worth $750 G’s... there’s the money!! Buy houses if you need money down the road! I’m having trouble just spending my monthly income!! Been retired for 19yrs now!!!!

Great thread for Banter though !! Have a nice day EH !!!

Guess I left the door open a bit too far on that one.

I remember being interested in the Formula S back when it came out. Gotta ask what was so bad about yours that went all the way to the "driveway mod" before getting fixed to your satisfaction.

I don't think that todays mustangs will ever be as rare as 60s mustangs.
Maybe someone already said this, but if we're going strictly by the numbers, the modern mustangs will be far more rare.

In 1965 alone, over half a million were sold. The modern mustangs (all engines) are selling..what..80,000 a year?

I believe in the short term, these mustangs will have a pretty good resale purely because of the engine. Looks at the decent 90's/2K's LT/LS camaros and firebirds. Still fetching $8-10k with close to 100k miles in average condition.

I enjoyed one of my sports cars less after I added HP. I didn't need to shift anymore. As far as future resale goes, don't hold your breath.
