Recaro vs. Stock Seats

Just throwing this out there, but bought my 2018 Mustang GT Premium used (8,700 miles) in 2019 as I always dreamed of getting an iconic muscle car as I’m now 69 years old and love it, especially the manual trans. But had some reservations with the Recaro‘s. I’ll preface this as it is not a daily driver and I’m medium build, but I have to say I love the seats. There are relatively comfortable and the side bolstering makes you feel snug and comfortable at high speed cornering, adds to the racing feel. No regrets!

I have the leather Recaros. It definitely keeps you from sliding around but being really big boned on the long ride to Carlisle from Boston will be the real test of their comfort.

It's my understanding Recaros are manual, without heating or cooling. I've throughly enjoyed mine.

Edit: Correction. EU folks receive an electric seat. See @WD Pro 's comment below.

While I would miss the creature comforts, Recaros are still great seats. Ford did at least really improve the stock seats.

I know we are in the minority, but Euros are electric (although we still miss the heating / cooling)

Im sure they are more comfortable but in VA we can get 115 degree summers and sub zero winters (though im usually driving the truck at that point). Having the heated and cooled seats are a game changer for my back and asscrack

Agreed I love the Leather Recaros and would probably have looked elsewhere if my only option were the Stock La-z-Boy’s.

I'm too big(wide) for the Recaros, they are horribly uncomfortable. It was a deal breaker for me! I want my heated, cooled, and powered seats.

I had cloth Recaro’s and swapped them to leather covers. I’m a fan of them. Always wanted a car with Recaro seats.

Yeah I’m perplexed why they would offer power Recaros in Euro but don’t offer them here (and what is the added cost for power). I moved to FL from IL a couple of years ago and as I said not a daily driver so it was mothballed in the garage during the winter so heated seats weren’t an issue. Now in FL can periodically take it out year round (no rain) and the AC obviously makes it comfortable. However, besides manually adjusting the the seats front to back and tilt you can adjust the height which makes a world of difference depending on your stature. As I said no regrets, love the Recaros!

I would probably fit in Recaros, but my wife, well, maybe not (you didn’t hear that from me). I think I’d miss the adjustability of the stock seat, and definitely the heating. The cooling, well, if I ever get around to re-engineering Ford’s crappy design, maybe that too.

Where in EU you could get power Recaros?
