I tried a set of G-Loc R12's on the front of my PP car and was a bit disappointed with them. I decided to put the stock pads back on the car for the next event. I wanted to compare the actual performance difference vs just the "seat of the pants" difference. Here are 2 videos side by side from Sebring. The lap times are within .2 of each other. The results are interesting. The G-Loc's were worn out and tapered badly after 2 events at Sebring. The PP pads have 2 days at Pitt Race, 2 days at WG, 2 days at Road Atlanta and 2 days (plus 2 night sessions) at Sebring. They have not hit the wear indicators yet.

I must say I am very impressed that a stock pad can do this well on the track and still be quiet on the street. They are $200 a set. Thank you Ford. Now I come home after a track event and all I have to do is wash the car.:):ford:

What's the part number for the stock pads? I'm getting a little tired of the dearth of options for replacement pads even though the car has been out for two years.

No kidding...

You can find the stock pads on Rock Auto. It's pretty obvious once you put in your car. They're the pads that are $200+ vs. all the rest... haha.

I have always used Hawk pads... and nothing for the Brembos on these cars. I hate changing pad loyalty :(

I thought Hawk just released some? Thought I read it on here in a vendor or brake thread somewhere...

Your braking is dependent on what type of tire you have. The stickier the tire, the better it brakes with a higher friction pad.

If you have a high friction pad with a low performing tire, your braking will suffer.

The tire limits the braking ability of the pad.

So I wouldn't be surprised that the stock pad + MPSS out braked the GLOC on OEM Pirellis. The stock PP pads are no race pads but they are pretty good.

To give it a fair chance, why don't you try the GLOC on the MPSS to give it a fair comparison.

Just my two cents. :)
I agree 100% that ultimate braking performance is determined by the grip of the tire on the pavement. That's what really slows the car down. There are 17 turns of data that show the G-force and therefore ultimate grip between the 2 tires is equal. I was actually surprised at the data. I could not get into ABS with the G-Loc pad. I was able to get into ABS with the stock pad and MPSS. When I went to put the data together I was convinced the stock pads would show substantially better performance under braking. I was wrong. One of the reasons to rely on data to help us improve. The data appears to show I need to get my skirt out from under the gas pedal in Bishops bend.:frusty:

I don't have enough G-Loc pad left after 2 events for another test and I'm not really willing to go through the sanding of the rotors and bed in procedure a 2nd time for another test.

Keep in mind that a tire with more grip like an NT01, R888, Hoosier, the stock pad may find it's limit. I would suspect the G12 would not be enough either. Perhaps the G18 would work well.

PS, not sure why I got the email reply and didn't see this reply in the actual thread?

Thanks Jim

I am glad you posted your experience. I talked to you at RA and it looks like they kept on working.

Not a hater but Hawk have destroyed to many wheels with their corrosive dust and left rust stains on my cars. Never been a fan of Carbotech so not going that route so for now I will stay stock on the GT350.

Hopefully PFC or Cobalt will come out with pads for the GT and GT350 in the future.

PS I can attest to the fact that Jim was hauling the mail at RA and not underdriving the GT.

I really like the stock pads on my PP car.

They do really well on street tires. As you stated, with a solid tire on the car, you will find the limits.

We run Carbotechs on our PP car that has Hoosiers, and they work very well.

I had the same issue with Hawk. The I either needed a set of track wheels that I didn't care about or plan on cleaning the wheels up before leaving the track. The dust turns to cement. That was on DTC60 and HT10's.

Cobalt will make you some pads. Give them a call. Chin members and instructors get a special discount.;)

Hmm, well I did clean my wheels before I put them in the back of the car. So... there's that.
