Never trickled?

I use a battery tender! But I did leave off for about 2 weeks and started vehicle once week with no problems. Put it back in for a week and no good! Gave it a boost ran and the car for a while. Drove a few times around the neighborhood and turned vehicle off. Would not restart. Dead battery. Bunch of starter clicks. So, as of now, I’m shopping for battery.

Only a 2017 GT australia. original 2017 dated factory battery same as OP’s. Died yesterday 52,000 , never been on a tender. Pretty impressive.

Mine died within a few weeks of buying the car back in late 21 as did my F150's in 2023. The warranty replacements have been solid ever since even with the cars having to spend winters in a carport.

My 2019 was on the original battery until the winter of 2025, so it lasted almost 6 years. That's the longest lasting of any battery I ever had in any vehicle. I replaced it with an Odyssey AGM battery, so the new owner who bought the car in December has a nice one.

My factory battery on the 2020 500 died after three years despite being on a CTEK for most of its life. And then two weeks ago I had to replace it again, (both Interstates) after another three years. I try to remember to lock the vehicle after she goes back into the garage which I was told saves some juice. Modem also disabled. First CTEK crapped out as well and just had to replace that on top of the new battery. 6300 miles.

oh dang, what terrible luck…you really oughta get out of that silly vehicle and move into something more reliable. Tell ya what…I’m willing to take the 2020 500 off your hands for a nominal price, minus a hefty fee for all the inconsistencies that she has. Have your people call my people!

I'll probably jinx myself for commenting here, but I'll take a chance. Picked up my 2019 Bullitt the 2nd week of November 2018 and I'm on the original battery. I will say living in MA she gets put up for the winter. I attach a battery tender over the winter. During the driving season I don't attach the tender, despite not driving the car very often. This is the first year I began to attach it when it sits for more than a couple of weeks.

My 2017 EcoBoost that I bought in August 2016 still had its original battery in it when I had the engine rebuilt earlier this year. The shop replaced the battery. I have absolutely no idea how a battery could last 9 1/2 years but mine did, and it was still working when they replaced it as part of the engine rebuild.

The OEM battery in my '15 had to be replaced a bit over a year ago, as it was getting weak. If it sat undriven for more than a week, it wouldn't start. Just shy of 10 years is a record for me for a factory car battery, although I had another Motorcraft go 20+ (yes, really).

Battery Tenders and their ilk are a big contributor to long battery life, IMO. Here in MN winter can last the better part of five months. The batteries for everything other than the drivers end up in my shop for the winter and I have more batteries on hand than I do chargers, so my ritual during winter is to connect each battery at the start of the month and charge fully, then disconnect and move the chargers to the next recipients. Once the next month rolls around, rinse and repeat. My theory is that the small amount of discharge that occurs between charges seems to be good for the batteries.

I just sold my 2020 GT350 with the original battery still intact, December 2020 purchase so 5 1/2 years and still going. Probably spent 75% of that time on a trickle charger.
