It turns the alternator off by cutting power to it.

Best to turn this off in forscan. It is supposed to prolong battery life, but as has been stated does not really work.

On one of the super duty sites don’t remember which one. they describe how to disconnect the smart charging system and they didn’t use forscan to disable the smart charging system.
