I just replaced mine with a carbon fiber steering wheel so my original steering wheel will be fir sale. First mod I got for the car was a steering wheel cover so it looks and feels literally brand new.

Some of you guys the with the gloves and fastidious hand washing are a riot. Its a $275 steering wheel. Just buy another lol
If only the R wheel was $275, I'd have multiple spares.

At $700 for a 2018+ R steering wheel, a pair of $25 driving gloves seems like the better choice.

There are cleaning advice videos For Alcantara on YouTube. I followed one with fabric cleaner and a toothbrush. 10k miles, but the steering wheel now looks like new.

What is the thickness on the upper part of the wheel? Bottom looks thicker than the top. The thickest offering from Guardian Designs is 120mm.

Gt350 guys, those with decent mileage, how are your stock steering wheels holding up?
Sonax Alcantara cleaner FTW!!!!

Mine has 18k and after a good cleaning with Sonax....it made a world of difference!! I now have a CF wheel with alcantara, I'll be routinely maintaining this with Sonax as well!

Not the same wheel, but my 2021 GT has indentation in the leather where my fingers grip it, so they all have their weird issues.

Wash your hands before you get in the car and clean the steering wheel every once in a while and it should hold up for the life of the car. I've been meaning to try Sonax because I've heard good things. I'm on my fourth alcantara wheel and I've always used Chemical Guys leather cleaner on the whole wheel.

I like to saturated a microfiber with a spray bottle filled with distilled water and wipe down the wheel first. Then spray the leather cleaner on a microfiber and go over the wheel. Spray some cleaner on a silicone toothbrush and work it into the high-touch areas, seams and threads. Final step is a grab a clean microfiber and I lightly saturate one side with the water again and go over the wheel. Then again with the dry side. I like to let it dry, so I do this when I know I'm not going to drive the car for the night.

Did those carbon fiber trim pieces come with the wheel or did you add them later? Curious if I can replace mine??

Yes, mine came with the steering wheel. You can purchase them separately though. I've seen a few companies selling them around $200-$300 for the 3 trim pieces.
I did a small write up on the Carbontastic steering wheel and some things I encountered with the product and installation including these trim pieces. You could do a search in this forum and see more information if you are curious.

Sonax works well but what is even more important is to brush it without any cleaners every few days with a leather brush. Itā€™s actually amazing to see how
Much dirt and dust gets removed. Iā€™ve found if I brush it more routinely I donā€™t have to use sonax very often. Maybe a couple times year.

The brush is key. Don't clean with a wrag. I never use a wrag on mine. I use a 3:1 diluted Adam's Carpet and Upholstery cleaner lightly spritzed on my brush to clean mine when needed. Has been amazing. Swapped my wheel out for a GuardianDesign at 22K miles and it looks brand new. None of the material is matted down like you so commonly see on these wheels.
