Gt350 guys, those with decent mileage, how are your stock steering wheels holding up?

Mine is holding up well at 3700 miles. I wash my hands before I get into it tho to remove body oil and dirt. Lol. Cannot say the same for the steering wheels on the 350's at Track Attack. They're F'd.

Clean with Sonax, or some soap and water.

Dawn dish soap works very well with a tooth brush. Did this for my 2015 Z/28 shifter knob -

3,000 plus miles. Mine still looks new, but my hands have been recently cleaned before I enter, and I'm always cautious about cleanliness anyways.

Thanks. I DD my GT with a GT350 wheel, so washing my hands every time i get in the car isn't happening. I have a lightning, so i know how to clean the material. Im just curious how they are doing with wear. My steering wheel has maybe 5k miles on it now

One of the big auto magazines (Car & Driver? Motor Trend?) had a GT350 in their long-term fleet for a year. I'll paraphrase here but it was similar to "the steering wheel was in tatters after one year - much what you would expect when choosing Alacantra over good old leather..."

Or like this guy did...https://www.gt350.org/forum/11-must...-who-hate-alcantara-post54884.html #post54884

Also a fan of Sonax. I have sweaty hands so I ordered a set of nice driving gloves to keep the suede free from sweat oils and salts.

+1 on the clean hands comments above. Though I don't over do it with the hand washing, I always make sure I wash up if I stop off for lunch and my hands are greasy from the food. Sweat, oil and grease can take its toll on an Alcantara/microsuede steering wheel and make it look worn. If neglected for too long it may never look its best again, but a good cleaning with the appropriate cleaner and a light brushing to lift the nap should improve it significantly.

Regular care/maintenance is key. If the steering wheel is properly cared for, only light cleaning is necessary. Every so often, I gently wipe the wheel with a clean, damp MF towel (using just filtered water), then I gently brush it with a small, soft brush and let dry. I have over 15K miles on the car, and the steering wheel looks nearly new.

I am at 26,000 miles, at 20,000 I changed to a carbon fiber/leather wheel and like it much better for the size and feel.
The original is still in very good shape.

I use driving gloves. Nothing touches the wheel but the gloves. 1000 miles looks virtually the same as when I brought it home.

Some of you guys the with the gloves and fastidious hand washing are a riot. Its a $275 steering wheel. Just buy another lol
