I just installed mine with the car on the ground and with hand tools. Easy.

For what it's worth, my car came with 8 bolts from the factory that I simply reused.

I finally installed mine yesterday. Pretty easy. Mine did have sealer from factory I just scrapped it off with a putty knife.
On a second note, the provided bolts are not long enough. I threaded one in without the jack rail. The threads on the welded nut were not 100% engaged so I went and bought longer bolts.I actually only bought two extra M10-1.5 bolts because I reused the factory ones and left the very far back one in as they are holding some kind of bracket otherwise you would only have one of them held down with the jack rails installed.
I torqued them to BMR recommend 41ft lbs with blue loctite.

I just wish they extended longer to the rear.

The supplied bolts are shorter than the factory but work, I used 2 of them. Used blue loctite and torqued to 60 lbs.

That is literally why they are so far forward. Because that is where the center of gravity is, closer to all the mass. However I personally would want to see them much further apart from each other if doing any kind of extensive work.
Farther apart is better to the limits of the stiffness modulus of the cross section and the strength of the material. The engine weight affects where you put the forward jack stand - forward is better than toward the rear. Each jack stand becomes a single fulcrum which creates a couple.

As my statics professor said, "The only thing you need to remember about statics is, every couple has its moment and don't push on a rope."

Amazing analysis...

I have a 2017 and had to scrap off the sealer. Otherwise the rails would not seat properly. They were way angled because of the thickness of the sealer. Easily scrapped off with a scrapping tool done with the car on the ground.
