As much as I like it, I worry about my car being lowered, and bumps, id probably drag and that's a fear. darn.
The '86 is lowered; full MM suspension. PHB hangs down further than the hitch receiver. But the rear overhang is pretty short. I needed the hitch to pull a trailer for my A/X and track day tires and paraphinella, but didn't want to see it when not in use, which is most of the time. The cost was high as was pretty much all the other custom pieces. But the car is a keeper so in my mind, money well spent.

My spare car has a hitch and I use it a lot, hitch/trailor motorcycles, etc. mainly bicycles though, it really is a great thing to own for bikes.
FYI: I carry my bike 2 or 3 times a week in my Mustang. Fold down the back seats, remove the bike’s front wheel, and I can put it in the trunk without any problems.

Can't justify custom. The whole idea of a hitch in a PP1 Mustang is kind of ridiculous anyway (ha ha).
Ever try to get race tires, tools, and gear to the track? Ever seen a tire trailer?

In my opinion, they should have kept it as a special order piece. Just add a disclaimer that it was developed around whatever exhaust systems they used, and may require modification with other systems.

Sad to see it go as it was on my wish list for when my car saw a busier track day schedule.

Why are you asking? Did you car not include the manual?
Haven't bought it yet man . Thanks for the help. That's great to see, but wonder why no tongue-weight limit? That's strange, since it's the more limiting figure. Also good not to see manuals excluded, so they should be included, I guess. Ha ha.

Agreed (but keep reading. He he). What was concerning to me was the disallowing of towing. What the hell do you need a 2,500# rating if not for towing? That was a head-scratcher. If strong enough, probably due to the compounding slop, since you had TWO extra components. Even with the drawbar alone, there's a lot of banging if you don't use a clamping plate to eliminate it (don't remember its technical name). But who knows.

Bottom line for me is that hitch should have been MUCH closer to the bottom of the diffuser. I would NOT buy it with that much space, since it was dangerously close to the ground IMO, and also being the lowest component, which could bite at 90-deg anything that could hit it, potentially causing massive damage to the car. Not a risk I'd be willing to take, but to each his own.

You can find lots of interesting stuff on google...
Indeed... but I can't access that man, in case you didn't know. Hey, why help if you're going to b*tch about it? Seriously, I rather not get the help that way. Just skip my posts, and spend your time doing something that doesn't raise your heart rate:wink:. Take care.

Wow, I haven't revisited this thread for a while, I was surprised to learn that Stealth Hitches stopped production of their hitch for the S550. Sad really, as I like the design and it does work well. Kind of bummed I didn't get the ball mount part for towing while they were still selling them. I suppose I could just use a 2" ball hitch to use in the rack receiver if I ever needed it. Still, I'm glad I got one of these hitches before they stopped selling them. I still think it looks good and works well, considering there's rather limited hitch options for this car.

I’d guess that the ball mount itself probably isn’t vehicle specific. You can probably still get one.

Bumping this thread. Carrying on the roof is not something I want to consider. Are there other options like trunk based racks that fit on these cars? Mine is a GT350.

When I had the HEP, I called Uhaul corp in AZ. Their hitch specialist told me the 350 rear is not the same as the 5.0 GT. As such, they will not make one for the Voodoo.

As I pointed out way back, I had a custom hitch built for my 86 Vert. Receiver is completely hidden behind the bumper. The fabricator did some testing to make certain it could carry the tongue weight I wanted. Pricy? Yes. But I wouldn't hesitate doing this again if a hitch was a necessity but needed to be hidden. Nothing takes the place of custom.
