Hey everyone. So I was doing som maneuvering in 2nd in a parking lot and stalled my car. I started the car up again (although it sounded like a rough start) and carried on with my day. After I got back to my car, I noticed the auto blip feature doesn’t work anymore. Did I screw my clutch up? Or is upset that things were too warm?

Did you check the rev match?? no such thing as stall prevention, that is driver-controlled.
left + right foot & right hand.

sensor..... detect the clutch is pressed or released at the correct moment. what :computerrage:

I agree the car needs more sensors, a common sensor would be nice

Seems like revmatch works. In fact, the rpm increases as I get off the clutch seemed to work this morning too. I am still weary that I damaged my poor mt82 or clutch. Still new to driving stick and when someone cut in front of me at target, my gut reaction was to slam the brakes and forget about the clutch in secon gear

Sounds more like a sensor issue, like it doesn't detect that the clutch is pressed or released at the correct moment.
I let her cool off for the night and it seemed to have fixed stuff 🤷. That being said, still weary I damaged something cuz of stupidity. Hope everything is fine now haha

Some people may think the mt-82 and clutch that comes in these cars aren't the best, but they certainly aren't made out of paper mache. I'm sure it's fine.

What is this auto-blip feature you speak of, if it's not the rev-match feature?

There's a slight rev increase when you let out the clutch, before it starts to grab, when you don't press the accelerator. My 22 has this as well. So did the Bronco I drove this time last year. Seems to be a "standard" feature on these manual Fords, at least the later ones.

I think the computer just got confused for a bit after you stalled it. Stopping and starting the engine usually gets it back on track, and while it is unkind to lock the wheels without pressing the clutch, it's not something that will break the clutch or the transmission. Unless you make a daily habit of it...

Update: I was driving the car again and it really feels like the clutch is slipping. I have to give it so much more gas than I’ve had to in the past to get it to move in first gear.

What "maneuvering" in 2nd gear were you doing and for how long? I mean, were you slipping the clutch the whole time? Is this your first manual car? Did you buy it used or new?

I slammed the brakes and stalled the car when someone pulled out in front of me in a parking lot. This is my first manual daily, I bought it used with 2000 miles on it.

You should not need to give it any gas to get it moving on first gear, just gently lift the clutch. Clutch slip is when you floor it on high gear and revs rise faster than the speed.

theres hill assist but i believe its just the motor regaining idle rpm when it dips under load. my last car did this and it was a dumb manual no help no modes no nothing. got it up to 30 with no gas just idle shift feather clutch stumble idle rince repeat.so yea u didnt do anything instead of smashing clutch and brake instinctively. if ur tranny was slipping then u should help it up off the floor! but really of it was slipping you would have a hard time stalling because ur well.. slipping.

Yeah that's nothing.. stalling the car will not burn out your clutch. Riding it at high rpm (think really steep hills) or excessive hard launches will though. You will smell the clutch when you've overheated it.

It sounds like you need someone with some experience to drive your car and see if there's something wrong.
