Up close in daylight you can see the plastic is the kind that gets yellow and old in time, but I guess they've lasted for 4 years OK and when they're on I honestly really like the look. Overall love the taste of the previous owner, if only they'd opted for the Recaros it'd be perfect.

You should not need to give it any gas to get it moving on first gear, just gently lift the clutch. Clutch slip is when you floor it on high gear and revs rise faster than the speed.

I think the computer just got confused for a bit after you stalled it. Stopping and starting the engine usually gets it back on track, and while it is unkind to lock the wheels without pressing the clutch, it's not something that will break the clutch or the transmission. Sounds more like a sensor issue, like it doesn't detect that the clutch is pressed or released at the correct moment.
