Not sure if it's the angle but wheel looks very slightly bent also.

Hello; I have heard that called a snake bite when it happens to a bicycle tire-rim. It is one rason I do not like nor want a very low profile shoulder tire. What happens is the tire hits a pothole of some such and the tire gets pinched against the rim. Both the tire and rim can be damaged.

Two summers ago, I was driving home from Morristown TN. There was a section of highway construction. The pavement had been ground away leaving an edge about two inches. I would slow way down before hitting that ridge. I noted a new Honda Civic on the shoulder with both front tires flat. Figure the driver did not slow down enough.

I get the curb rash bit with the extra thick sidewall rubber, but do not think that is what happened.

Probably best to keep the tire pressures on the higher side to help prevent this. Likely can still happen.

To be fair, we really don't know the situation here. As far as we know, this happened on the way to the show after anything was applied and the owner simply hadn't noticed it yet. It's great though that at least someone was told about it.

I would not drive my '87 Yugo with a tire that had a split in it like that. And even though mine is just one of those throw away GT's I would not drive to the tire shop with a tire like that. I would take it off and put it in my truck and drive to the shop. This is one good reason not to drag race or canyon carve with every idiot on the street. That is unless you look forward to this same fool taking you out or being witness to someone else being taken out. There is not a track in the world that would let him run that.

I say he is just a fool looking for a Darwin award that also has a couple of bucks. And all of the money in the world can't buy you common sense. There are plenty of brain-dead legacy children out there that could not have a reasoned thought if you gave them a credit card.

This actually pissed me off. But I am OK now. I am off of my soapbox.

Back to regular programming.

I noticed that too but decided against going down the path of vilifying the owner. We really do not know transpired or what the driver/owner did or did not know. The bottom line is that OP noticed it and pointed it out. Hopefully the owner will have it taken care off. Nothing really further to discuss.
