2023 GT… Just noticed the weatherstripping splitting on the driver side where the mirror mount hits it… Anyone else have this?

i’m gonna swing by my dealer in the next couple days and see if this is a warranty issue or if I’m on my own…

Unfortunately that would have only been covered under:
The first 12k miles of ownership
OR
The new car Bumper to Bumper 3/36k.

If you are beyond either of the above by years or miles (whichever comes first), the Dealership may not be helpful. That isn’t to say don’t attempt to inquire about it (definitley see what they will say), but just letting you know what to expect IF they don’t cover it.

My 2018 doesn’t show any such wear/tear in that area on either side of the car,

I’m still under 3/36… And I have a very good relationship with my small/rural dealership… We’ll see what happens… either way I’ll deal with it!

If that is the full wrap-around gasket for the door opening ...

I needed mine replaced as a new car. List price was over $200, but it was covered under warranty.

Yeah, it’s the piece that goes around the entire window opening… Appears to be metal wrapped in some sort of rubber/plastic, the rubber/plastic is split and you can see the metal underneath. The mount for the mirror very lightly hits it when the door closes and that’s what has caused the split… The passenger side doesn’t hit and has not split. I (of course ) think it’s a warranty issue, we’ll see what the dealer thinks.

Mine had a funny wrinkle at the top and the window would catch it when closing the door.

It is not trivial to replace yourself so hopefully the dealer will fix you up for free.

Just an update to close out the thread… The dealer agreed it was warranty work, and replaced not only the piece of weatherstripping that had split but also replaced the piece that was hitting it causing the split, which made me happy. Overall a very positive experience at my local dealer

When I close the door, a piece of weatherstripping attached to the door would rub against a piece of weatherstripping attached to the door opening on the car, so after a couple years of closing the door it split the piece attached to the car.
