Get a radar detector.

I haven't had a single ticket (not just speeding, but any ticket) for over 15 years now.

What's the point of having 525 HP if you don't use it?

I have not gotten a ticket in about 3 years. The funny part was it was in a Ford Explorer. He got me at 62 in a 40 but I got lucky and wound up getting "failure to yield for a traffic device" which is a no point violation.

I spend half the time in the middle of nowhere with lots of empty 4 lane, limited access roads with a 70 MPH speed limit and quite. There are also a number of long winding country roads. I use Waze and a V1. You can say I have a lot of fun on these roads. A LOT of fun :)

In contrast, the other half of my time is spent in a suburb of Philadelphia. I rarely have any fun there. Too many people on the roads and many drive like idiots. There are a lot of families with small children as well. If I hurt/kill myself it is my own fault but I can't imagine how I could live with myself if I hurt someone else.

I really have adopted two very different driving personalities based on where I am that week.

All that said, even I have limits. My last car had way too much power for me. A buddy of mine is a pro driver and drove my previous car to a best 9.91 at 138.6 mph in the 1/4 (with a manual!). After about a year I feared that car was going to be my coffin.

Responsible adult?

I cannot say I always operate my vehicle within all of the laws of the road, but when I do get caught, I accept it and move on. I just consider it a fun tax.
Many responsibile adults, including myself, drive over the PSL every single day. We can agree on manning up and taking your medicine though. I haven't had a moving violation in about 15 years.

GT350? Probably a Judge. There's a Porsche Panamera in my parking garage that says "State Judge" on the license plate.

I'm sure it says that so he can recognize his car.
I'm sure that there are many LEOs amongst us.

Going to pick up my new '17 Magnetic on Saturday morning:headbang:. I have a 13 hour drive back home. I'm hoping Waze+some amount self restraint and some luck will keep me trouble free on the way home.

I've always said that this car is an exercise in self control. Ive been pulled a few times, but it was out of interest in the car. I was never asked for DL or insurance.

Good luck! I had a 4.5 hour drive home. Im not the speeding type, but I made it home in under 4 hours. Passing people on the 2 lane highways was so much fun.:ninja:

Restraint has saved myself at least three times. One of which was strongly resisting the urge to speed, but instead going the limit on a long, empty stretch towards a dead end. A cop was waiting at the end of it. Another time was at night with my usual bursting up to, and going the speed limit. I didnt notice a cop was tailing me, which just reinforces my "no shenanigans at night" rule, since you cant tell who's a cop.

Im glad for my healthy dose of paranoia.

Waze and a radar detector. Spend some coin though and get a good radar detector not a cheap crappy cobra. It is very rare that with these two devices I don't know exactly where da Po Po be sitting.

I really dont understand why people dont invest in radar detectors. This thing saved me literally over couple hundred times. If even half of those were tickets, I would be out tens and thousands of dollars for ticket/insurance premium/court fees over a 10 year period.

I guess part of the reason why I havent received a ticket is also because state troopers or local cops only use Ka and K bands here, no laser.

Both timed I've been pulled, the cop wasn't using tadar. Unmarked car observing in traffic. True, radar detectors will save you sometimes, but not always. Especially with this car.

So how did he know how fast you were going? If he came behind you that means he was "pacing", it requires them to pace for at least 1000 ft. If he did and you didnt notice he was a cop that long, thats really user error:)

If he just saw you going fast and "thought" you were going fast, thats really again user error. You can walk out of that ticket easily.

I did get pulled over several times, but I always talk my way out of them. I was pulled over for "speeding" in 35 zone because cop thought my race mufflers were too loud and thought I was going fast. Not going to work. Its really simple, use the law to your advantage. Know their limits and how their procedures work.

- Cop: You were speeding
- Me: How fast was I going, did you have your radar on?
- Cop: No but I observed you speeding
- Me: You cannot judge how fast I was going unless you paced me from behind for a considerable amount of time. Standing on the side of the road and assuming because my car is loud I must be going fast doesnt qualify

Even if he writes you up, go to court and no judge will allow a ticket like that.

He can write you up for other offenses like "exhibition of speed" which are far worse but those require you to drive aggressively like doing burnouts or going sideways.

Edit: I got pulled over 4 times now in this car for absolutely BS reasons. 2 of them were simply for the cop to check out the car and talk to me. One of them was my most favorite, he thought this wasnt a street legal car. I had to show him the window sticker which showed 50 state emission status and he verified with the VIN number.

If you get a points ticket ALWAYS fight it. It's like "let's make a deal" now. Most municipalities are just looking for the cash. If you fight it you can typically it something knocked down to a less serious offense. My son got a ticket for 27 over which would have been 4 points. They knocked it down to 5 over and 1 point.
