I don't ever like to comment on a situation I personally wasn't involved in, but I have some insight into this. Part of enforcement is education. Typically cops that are active in traffic enforcement will pull you over for a legitimate violation no matter how minor and search for other more serious violations. By that logic if they find no other violations they will cite you on the small violation alone. It's a part of the job some guys just enjoy, it's not personal. It's one of many things cops are paid to do and every cop does it slightly differently. No way he thought the car was stolen, or he wouldn't have conducted a routine traffic stop. Cops gather as much info about the car and owner as possible before the stop even occurs. And take it from someone who's not much older than you, most cops make pretty good money. Some even drive GT350's;)
You are right, factor in that Bay Area cops are some of the highest paid in the nation and have to deal with plenty of well off young folks (self made or other), I'd say it likely wasn't an age issue

I've had my share of interactions with the local LEOs when I was younger (and all rightfully deserved), some guys definitely just higher strung and by the book than others. However, I've been let off and/or given a lesser offense a majority of the time.

Wow come on guys, I simply shared a story about an experience that was less than favorable. Now everyone is taking turns attacking my character.

I'm not hating on police by any means and I can guarantee I am not a cocky person nor did I "talk my way into" a ticket. Something gave this officer a bad impression of me before he even had a chance to speak with me. My age and the car was one possible cause of this I thought of, but I believe I already said that I definitely cannot guarantee what he was thinking on his end. His approach to the whole situation was rude and he seemed insistent that there was more going on to find.

I could get into details about exactly what he did and said, but it doesn't matter. My point is that it was far from routine with such a basic equipment violation as the reason for the stop. All of that being said I still wouldn't hold a grudge against any police or even this individual officer because I have no idea what happened earlier in his day that could have contributed. I simply remained courteous and fully cooperative because that's the only way to handle it in my opinion. I've had previous contacts with police that have only ever been positive even when they could have chosen to write me for minor moving violations - so my admiration for and thankfulness to police is very high.

Yeah, these types of stories always lead to what seems like people teeing off and tag teaming. That's the nature of the beast. Keep posting and you're bound to land on the wrong end from time to time:cheers:

Unfortunately any mod to the plates here is illegal, to include a plastic plate cover. More unfortunate, as you know, the camera captures your face as well, and with a GT350, we may not be too challenging to track lol. Still, will post if I find it.
My last GT I got pulled over on the freeway cause a cop in his cruiser saw me with no front plate, dark plate cover not legal here also, dark 15% window tint, tinted headlights, and to boot notice me not wearing my belt when I turned in front of him he pulled a U turn and chased down a 4 lane hwy and pulled me over in 8AM rush hour and slap me with 800.00 in tickets when I couldn't produce papers because I left my wallet at home but I bought another GT and have been lucky and now I have 2 Mustangs.

911 over THAT?!
Yep, I was *this* close to suggesting that he should track that person down and "clarify" the reasons people should and should not use the 911 system.

But on second thought, I didn't. :D

This is why I'm not a police officer. I have a lot of respect for people who are police in a big city. I understand their lives are often in danger and it can be a thankless job. They are performing a very much needed service in keeping the public safe. They generally ignore small violations because they have bigger fish to fry.

I grew up in the country and basically many of the cops there were just guys who wanted to be legally able to push others around. I shouldn't generalize quite that much - some were great people. Others though, they just wanted a chance to hassle others.

I haven't been pulled over in the GT350 yet, but I really wish I could set the exhaust to "stealth mode" and the cutouts wouldn't open up every time you step on it. Even though I'm obeying the law I feel as though I'm attracting too much attention in the car. I do think it helps that I'm not out driving it around at bar time on the weekends or anything like that.

You got that right I fell the same way I think you can drive it harder and faster if it was like in six gear till you want to open the cutouts.

You wouldn't believe what people call 911 for
Couldn't be a more true statement. Having many friends that are LEOs and knowing my whole local department where I work, I hear a lot of the calls on the radio and some of them are so ridiculous it really makes you wonder sometimes.

Two of my favorites are (1) A woman called 911 to report deer in her yard and requested LEO come in and remove them immediately and stop them from returning.

(2) A man called 911 claiming he was locked inside his apartment. Turned out he was trying to turn a lock knob to the side where it was already locked. Man was completely sober and no cognitive or mental issues.

I was on my way to work in the Shelby a few days ago and a motorcycle cop flew past me, then slowed down quickly to get alongside me. I thought I was about to get pulled over, he then holds out his right arm, gives me a thumbs up and hits it! It was actually kind of cool!
