Reset the BMS perhaps? Maybe the car still thinks it has a crappy battery/charging system and has shut functions down?

I’m hoping that’s the case. About to go try it now.

Thank you! I will definitely try both.
There are two fuse blocks. One in the engine bay, and the other in the passenger footwell area (basically below the glove box, behind the plastic panel against the floor)

Ok so I did the BMS successfully. Turned the car off and back on and the radio acknowledged my steering wheel volume control being pushed but still didn’t turn the volume up. I turned the car off and on again and now it doesn’t acknowledge the volume button on my steering wheel again. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sorry I’m stupid when it comes to things under the hood. Lol! Does ground points mean maybe the battery connectors needs to be checked?
Probably not direct connection to the battery, but anywhere there's a thick, black cable bolted/screwed to the metal frame of the car. There should be one on the passenger side shock tower. I've read about that coming loose for various reasons and causing some wacky problems.

From your comments, it reads like the original issue, not starting, battery dying, has been fixed and the car has been working well for at least the last several days. Good. That gives some confidence the root cause was fixed.

Performing a BMS reset was worthwhile and necessary. Seems the car is responding well to that, even if Sync did not; which leans towards Sync or supporting firmware got corrupted along the way.

Yes, check fuses. Check physical connections. You want to clear the obvious. Once you've done that, check out the threads above.

Ford provides instructions for updating Sync, via USB or wireless. I recommend USB.

After following Ford's instructions for loading on a USB, start the car and get ready to drive. Insert the stick, go driving (you can also sit and idle, but I don't care for that.) It took me about 10 minutes for the update to complete. People with maps will take longer.

Sync will reboot upon completion. During this reboot, if you haven't caught it already, Sync will read the USB yet again and update, again. Nothing bad will happen. You could have your Uncle watch the screen from the passenger side and remove it in time. :giggle:

Once you've confirmed a correct and good Sync update, you can see where you're at. Good Luck. :please:

Keep us updated when you have a chance.

Thank you for the links. It says my Sync is up to date. I bought the car in 2020 and I’ve only had to update it once. I used USB because it was so much faster. I did a master reset though.. would that have deleted the update I did a couple of years ago? My status still says up to date but could it be wrong?

My understanding from your comments: time past, you updated Sync via USB. Good. So our concern now is, even if the version in the car is current, there's a chance it's been corrupted; this is why we want to re-install it.

I'd like to do this: download the current version, whatever Ford allows you to download. Alternatively, you could continue to use your existing USB with that image on it. Go through the process again. See if the car will accept the USB, allow it to reload and reboot.

A master reset will remove your personal information and load the factory defaults. You can do that, but I'd like to overwrite whatever version of Sync is there now, the end user software. Even if it is the same version #. If we can do that, the hope is we've fixed it. If you continue to experience the same problem/s, we've at least removed one more variable and can consider other areas.

That’s crazy you bring that up.. as I said I’m not a car savvy person. I know to put gas in it, air up tires, jump it off and change the oil. Anything else I’m clueless so this may be a dumb question.. About 3 weeks ago the back of my car started squeaking. I take very good care of my car so I don’t drive rough or anything. I figured maybe the shocks or something needed to be lubricated. 🤷🏻‍♂️ So is there a shock tower in the back end of the car and could that be why it’s squeaky and possibly causing my radio and gps to mess up because something has become loose? My battery and alternator never gave me a problem but they both failed about a week after my rear end started to squeak.

Checking all ground is always first step but I doubt that's your issue. Your best bet will be some major troubleshooting. I don't know if there is another way to do a master reset on your unit but I am betting your Sync module is partially toast. I had a similar issue on my S197 Mustang Sync system. It turned out the Sync module had burned on the inside from a short at the USB.

Personally I would check the sync module for burn cables or inside the module it self. Then check all wiring coming out of it.

To be clear only your sync system is acting strange correct? Everything else on your car works?

Yes everything else works fine. I just can’t use volume/change channel on my steering wheel and I can’t use volume knob or push the audio button on my touchscreen. No sound comes out of the speakers when I’m on Apple CarPlay but the screen shows the song is playing.

Yeah whatever the issue is, I bet its that damn module. I would start there.
