I was just checking local stock, and a dealer close to me has a 5.0 gt premium with PP with all the goodies i could ask for...

I have a retail order with a Estimate build date of 10/26... GT Prem, leather, nav AUTO.

I wanted the PP, but it wasnt offered in auto, but i really wanted those wheels, so i have a plan to buy them from a guy in cali for 1300 when he gets his car.

This stock order will be here in SIXTEEN DAYS 10/19 delivered, already has the wheels and is the same color as my retail order...

I havent driven very many sticks in my life, so i guess my question is this...

Is it annoying to drive a stick as a daily driver? I mean i hear its a LOT more fun to drive... The car has everything I want, and more... and i would get it a month earlier then my retail order.... opinons?

I bought a 2013 GT with a six speed manual. It's a complete blast to drive around but as a daily driver I think you would tire of it in traffic. There's enough HP and clutch pressure and you'll be working the clutch enough to get slightly annoying. It's all how much tolerance you have for that to trade off for the fun rowing through the gears. I drive mine for 6 months then put it away for winter so it's fun again when I get back in to it.

Short answer is for a daily driver likely an Auto would be the choice, sadly.

Hmm yeah, I wouldent say i sit in THAT much traffic at all.. I live in the suburbs, and the only traffic i get in is daily, red light traffic.. not bumper to bumper on the interstate.

7 years of driving a stick in DC/VA/MD traffic and I wouldn't have it any other way. For one year I owned an auto and became bored very quickly and I never felt connected to the car. Just my .02 cents

This is my FIRST brand new car, my FIRST V8. I'm only 20 years old, and i want this car to really.... "be something" since im paying an arm and a leg for it and i work my ass off to get it, lol. I mean, I hear all the time from my buddies, "it isnt a mustang unless its a stick" :p

I know i can learn, but, i just dont want to learn and find it to be annoying or not worth it..

I just did the calculations with my trade in i got quoted and with my down payment, I actually get everything i get with the auto plus more for roughly the same price...

I was in your exact shoes when I bought my 2008 GT. I was 20 years old and new in the Army. I was picked on everyday for owning a V6 automatic so I caved into the pressure and went and bought a 2008 GT premium manual.....and I didn't have a Damn clue how to drive it. My salesman spent 2 hours teaching me. I stalled about 10 times on my drive back to base and then spent 4 hours driving around the commissary parking lot practicing. You know what? It was the best peer pressure decision ever lol seven years later you'll have to pry me away from a clutch. It's a personal bond unattainable with an auto and flappy paddles.

I mean... its everything I want, and its 1 month closer then my retail order, but its just a stick... I think I will do it.. Im gonna call the dealer tomorrow, and PRAY that no one has this car reserved yet. Thank you for the feedback so far, it sounds promising lol. (Makes me wonder how pissed the dealer is gonna be at me) oh well, my retail order will sell fast... granted i lose my 1000$ down payment to reserve the car.. maybe this other dealer can help me out with that, and not make me pay MSRP ..

Your deposit was non-refundable? but yea at 20 years old, you will be very happy knowing you have a manual and learned how to drive one. It is a very rewarding experience. I also first started learning how to drive in the Baltimore area (no place in the states probably has worse traffic than this region) Except maybe LA, Miami (maybe, I've never researched Miami's traffic), NY, NY and the Key's during tourist season. All my vehicles have been manual until just last year I bought the Ranger with an automatic. I would have gone Manual as well but the Auto is stronger and the towing capacity is about double what the manual is. But i will always have a vehicle with a manual as long as they are available.

Automatic is boring and its great having a stick shift car. No one asks you to borrow it because they can't drive stick. Traffic at times could be annoying but its turned into a lifestyle to me. Feels boring when I drive an automatic car

I ordered the manual. I had an automatic before but drive my friends manual 350z a couple times and knew I had to order a manual mustang lol. I picked up a civic for cheap to get better before my mustang comes lol

Well if its only in the suburbs and not on the interstate you should be fine!

I get stuck in traffic every morning and afternoon. Some days its worse than others (for no discernible reason). So that sucks.

BUT, they are nearly done making the 4 lane highway into an 8 lane! That should be done by December I believe, so no more traffic for me :D

I'd say go for it. There's just something about shifting the gears...its "natural" :p feels great too, much more so when you're driving spiritedly as well.

You'll get used to it, and then it'll feel like 2nd nature to you.

I drove a stick for 10 years and then stopped when My wife wouldn't let me have one anymore ;-). But I ordered the GT PP with manual and I can't wait to get back to driving a stick. It's way more fun and you feel like you're driving the car instead of just coasting along zoning out. I'm nervous about picking it up when my car arrives, because I don't want to embarrass myself by stalling in the lot when I try to leave. I haven't driven a stick in years, but I'm hoping it's like riding a bike and will come right back to me. Told the wife, I'm getting a stick Period!!! lol

When I bought my '12 GT I couldn't even drive a stick and I had to have a friend drive it home. Now that I've learned I'll never buy another automatic. It's so boring driving with an automatic after experiencing a manual.

I am a firm believer that learning how to and driving a manual makes you a better driver as well.
