I hate tinted lights but that does actually look nice.

Usually you start seeing blacked out lights appearing on cars once they hit the 10 year old mark and younger drivers start to buy them up.

$60 covers cost less than $1200 headlights and I like the attitude look :)

Better hope no one ever pulls out in front of you. You will find out quickly who is at fault. Tinting lights as stated is just stupid and actually is illegal

Tinting lights or brake lights is the definition of stupid.
Just wait about 5 to 10 years. Half of the threads on here will be about that. Along with cat deletes, issues of rubbing after lowering to 1mm clearance and plasti dipping the entire car.

Covers are removable for night driving,I've had them on every vehicle since 88 never had any problems with law enforcement, matter of fact I usually get a thumbs up from them :)

When you look at your own car and whatever you tinted helps make it look nice, you're looking at it when it's stopped . . . like it would be in still photography or at a car show, when the tint wouldn't have any functional down-side.

I think it can be pulled off on lighter-colored cars, but it's obviously love/hate in these parts.
It’s love/hate everywhere. I just happen to love it. Where I live no one bothers you about it and my car is a weekend day driver anyway.

I understand what you are saying. My brake lights are easily seen, even with the tint. And my fogs are not tinted and I drive with them on during the day. As for night driving, I have probably done it twice on a dark road and I could see fine. But as a habit, my car is a weekend day driver.

Here in the Southwest, window tint is a survival mod... for both you, and the vehicle's interior. Especially up here in the high desert. The UV is brutal.

Fortunately, modern tints are available that block the heat and UV without requiring "limo" darkness levels. It's even becoming more common to tint the windshield with a clear film that blocks UV.

Tinting lights is dumb.

Sounds like an approach that could (or perhaps even should) be available at the OE level. I could get really interested in a clear treatment that blocks heat (getting into heat stress sucks, and your resistance to this does tend to drop with age and the number of times you find yourself there).

I used to ride bicycles and motorcycles, and I depended on being able to see driver faces as an indication that they'd even looked in my direction before pulling out of driveways and side streets. Keep in mind that most of that experience came when cell phones were little more than curiosities, so the driver-fully-paying-attention situation is far worse now than it was then. It's a habit that's saved me a number of times since parking the 2-wheelers.

I've been riding motorcycles for nearly 40 years, so I understand exactly what you're talking about. IMHO, as riders, we train our brain to interpret very subtle movements of the driver's head and the car as warning signals. I've not noticed any significant reduction in this with cars with tinted windows, but as you noted most drivers aren't really paying attention to driving these days.

Over the years, I've lost count of the times that a driver has looked directly at me, then proceeded to pull out right in front of me.
