I know, I know... the ZL1 rides like shit, you can't see out of it and Randy was sandbagging... Oh, and don't forget to bring up sales numbers again...
Well, that explains why the fanboys like the GT500 so much... :cwl:
In all seriousness, the cars are extremely close in performance (with the exception of straight line, if the GT500 can get traction), and the win is going to come down to who had a better day. All the rest is just internet...
It's becoming clear that you can throw a blanket over the ZL1 (/1LE) and GT500 (/CFTP) in just about any contest other than high speed roll racing or on a prepped dragstrip. It's gonna come down to the driver, or the tires, the alignment, or some other miniscule variable that will put one car...
Actually, it's a lot. Translates to ~ 1.5 seconds / mile of track. That's a 1.5 mph average advantage all the way around the track. It doesn't sound like much, but if you assume you cross start/finish at 60mph (which is pretty slow for most tracks), the gap on a one mile track is 132 feet...
Exactly. A pro driver, driving both cars, removes that variable from the testing process. It's the only way to achieve objective results, and compare the performance capabilities.
And objectively, the ZL1 and 1LE are faster than the GT350R. Facts are facts.
I do have a Miata track car that...
You guys are killing me.... "it isn't a real time", "R&T doesn't know how to test", "it's only 4%"...
You sound like a bunch of 5th grader fanboys. The ZL1 is the civilized street version, and it's still faster than the GT350R. The ZL1 1LE will flat out spank the GT350R around a...
Comparing cars at a trackday with two different drivers isn't very useful. Beyond the obvious difference in skill level, there's the question of commitment... you have no idea whether the other car was even trying for a max effort lap.
How 'bout the same (Pro) driver on the same day (skip to...
I have a couple extra sets of track tires and have used both the Kurgo 'tire garage' and tire totes.
I prefer the tire garage for storage, but the individual totes are easier to move around.
Tire garage:
Totes:
Both will keep the tires from getting anything dirty, or smelling up the...
I use 3M vinyl tape (usually 1/4") for the paint edge, then blue painter's tape over that. The vinyl tape follows curves well, and provides a better line than the painter's tape. With plastidip, you have to be careful removing the tape, as it will want to peel up the dip. I've had best...
Looks fantastic, ALLKHEINZ!
I hope you get a chance to take some more pics with a decent camera so we can see a true representation of the color.
Add me to the list of folks that don't like the fact that the stripe is mandatory... much better without, IMHO.
I like that interior molding, adds a nice touch. I'm assuming it just sticks into the panel seams?
As far as the stock rear valance, I just used black plastidip on ours. Looks much better and is holding up fine.
I'd like to upgrade to an '18 valance/exhaust, but may just upgrade the car...
Absolutely! We need to get rid of all this digital crap... fuel injection, ABS, electronically controlled suspensions, stability and traction control, anything other than an AM/FM radio. Maybe bring cassettes or 8 tracks back.
All this new fangled shit is just ruining cars....
</sarcasm>...
Yup. The movie was pretty bad, even by 70's standards.
Cool thing about the truck is it was built to actually work, not just like a typical movie prop. 3/8" steel bodywork, 390 Ford industrial engine, allison trans, semi-truck driveline parts. The wheel arrangement is actually functional...
Actually, "real" race cars have been trending towards digital for a while now... configurable, can display a wider variety of data, easy to read, etc...
I do agree with other posters that it should be a stand alone option, that way everyone could get exactly what they want. In fact, most...
