There's only one real problem with getting the GT...you will find yourself making up all kind of excuses to go for a drive....bank by phone, oh hell no, I'm driving to the bank. You will drive everywhere just to get that permasmile that affixes to your face when you fire that Coyote-puppy up! The Coyote is calling YOU...

All good bro, do It. I had a 2015 TLX for about 5 months and traded it in for a 16 GT PP 6MT. Everyone thought I was going nuts but I smile everytime I
fire her up. Its fast, loud and doesn't care about you or your hybrid. I love it.

I drove a mustang in Hawaii and was really impressed with a variety of things with this car. Shortly after I went to SEMA and was pretty much sold after
seeing the aftermarket strength centered around this chassis. However finding a GT PP in the color and with all the options and price point that I wanted
was a totally different story.

Good luck on your journey and enjoy the ride!

Something I learned, going through the same struggle...

1. If you have to ask whether or not you want to go GT... you should go GT. Otherwise that bug whispers in your ear every day, and won't shut up. Not saying there's anything wrong with an Ecoboost -- there isn't, and don't let anyone here tell you otherwise. But, when you get the "I want a V8" bug, you will not silence it any other way. If you don't have that bug, then maybe I envy you. Go enjoy your EB and don't worry about what folks on there think.

2. If you have the bug, getting a GT *will* fix it. I went to a super-basic, no option GT. That was enough. It was a good buy for me, and all the "what if" thoughts went away. So it does work.

3. If you haven't had a good American V8 at least once in your life, you should try it.

4. If you get the GT, though, get rid of the lousy stock exhaust, it will put a damper on your experience. You can't hear your awesome V8 for crap with the stock setup. There are lots of exhaust options, but if you want to save some money (as I did -- I'm a cheapass), go with the Gibson exhaust. Super cheap. Sounds great.

Good luck, my friend. But remember this. It's not about the peer pressure -- don't give a f*ck what people here think. But *do* listen to yourself. If your brain is saying "V8 V8 V8" then listen to it. If it's not... go forth and enjoy your EB.

Love that Guard Green. I don't get Ford right now, man. Deep Impact Blue and Guard Green were two of the best colors... and they are ditching 'em.

Oh well, makes our colors unique, I guess. But still. Sh*tty taste at Ford, I think.

This is the final chapter for fire breathing v8's, there was no way I was going to pass it up. Plenty of years ahead to enjoy lackluster turbo cars. (Ecoboost owners save your arguements, I've had plenty of turbo toys and will have more to come.). They are fun, but they will never be the same as a screaming v8 IMO.

hey sounds like a case of you'll never be happy. you get the GT. what next? need more power... gotta mod. yes i have a v6 and it's more than enough power because i dont race so getting up to speed as a daily driver on a road full traffic is just fine. so its not like i'd fully enjoy more power anyways.

so i don't take offense to your comment sir. we all own mustangs here.

I personally think that an enthusiast of a particular subject matter can never be truly content, it's part of having passion for that particular subject. If anyone was ever truly content, the entire world would stop innovating. It's human nature to want the latest and greatest, everything needs to progress to be better, faster etc etc..

However, for most enthusiast there is a point of diminishing returns, where you can get the most bang for your buck and satisfy many if not most urges and still be fiscally responsible. As a car guy, I wold LOVE a Ferrari F12 TDF.. but that's not ever going to happen.. hell a GT350 would be lovely.. but again, that's out of my range Lol.. I think the s550 GT hits that sweet spot for most enthusiast of good power, amazing sound, good comfort and killer looks.. so I think one could be "happy" with a GT.. I know I would be.

But again, that metric is unique to each individual.

Seriously though.. this has been my problem. Once I get something attainable then I'm like "oh well thats pretty close to attainable, why not that". Eventually will I have an F1 in my garage? probably not.. I truly feel that I can't take a step up from the S550 5.0 without seriously needing a big financial push to get there, which is why I'm pretty close to just swapping to the GT and calling it good. I think I can seriously live with one of those, and drive it for the next 10 years.

I'll be trading my 2015 Cyclone convertible when Ford produces the next Mach I. Why? Because an old man wants to try to recreate the fun and excitement of his 1970 MachI. I've owned many Mustangs over these 50 years, 10 to be exact, but only one "My Baby"!!! I should never have sold it. My friends all drive Porches and can't understand my obsession with Mustangs...I can't really explain it to them. I mumble to them that "Mustangs provide more smiles for the money"! I can appreciate my Cyclone Pony until Ford comes out with the new MachI...and I only hope that they reintroduce a GOLD color.

If you post a thread like this, you really want the GT and just want people to help you justify the higher initial costs, Gas and insurance.
Exactly. People can rationalize and justify buying darn near anything if they REALLY want it. If you want the GT and can afford it, then get it!

That being said, when I got my car last fall, I couldn't even fathom buying a Mustang that doesn't have a V8 and a manual transmission. I'm a hard-core traditionalist though. If I ran Ford, I'd probably bankrupt the company because I wouldn't even offer an I4 or V6 in the Mustang. When I first started shopping for one, I told my wife that if a GT was going to be too expensive, then I just wouldn't buy one. I know that may come off a bit snobbish, but hey, we all have to draw our line in the sand somewhere. :)

Guard TANKED in the Midwest, buddy that owns a dealership said he couldn't give those cars away out there. Same with DIB out here. I special ordered a DIB 16, and cancelled my order and got my black 15.

Well, they ordered the DIB anyway, and it's still sitting on the lot. 9 months later.

Get the GT op. If you gotta ask you already know the answer

Yeah, I totally agree. I do really like the Lightning blue that they're going to offer though.

I dunno, at this point I would personally probably wait for the refresh but that's just me. Not like your car got totaled.

Lots of exciting GT350 (or inspired by) parts that could make it to the S550 by 2018 MY.
The problem with waiting for an update or improvement is that at some point you have to draw the line or you'll always be waiting. Things are constantly improving on these vehicles, and as soon as you get your car, a better one will be coming out around the corner. It's like computers and cell phones--wait a year and now there's a better version. I say just do it so you can start enjoying the GT now.
