Should I order a 2016 or 2017?

nobody knows. Also I bet anything 2017 see's GT500 and will they sell both at sometime.

With design and engineering costs involved with the GT350, I see no way it will be a short run. Not to mention that the whole universe agrees on one thing, the GT350/350R is the best Mustang ever to sport the name. How many Boss owners thought that the Boss was the end all for Ford building a track capable car? Now the GT PP outperforms the Boss, and as of yet there is nothing to compare the GT350 to. For Ford to stay in the game in the years to come some of the GT350 exclusive items will have to be shared with the whole line. One thing is for sure, it's a great time to be a car enthusiast.

You can speculate as you wish, by as of now 2016/2017 are the only two years confirmed by Ford.

He said would take min 3 months which would bring us to May but I'm guessing will take 4-5 months which means summer would be half over and can only drive tell maybe October. So wondering if I should order it not knowing how much I'll

Not sure where you are located in B.C. but if you are in the Lower Mainland or Vancouver Island you can drive the car all year around.

I suggest that you order a 2016 at MSRP as you will have a lot of time to drive the car prior to late next fall.

Keep in mind that pricing for the 2017MY will not be the same as the 2016MY and even though it may not be a large increase it will be at least another $1000 to $2000 for a 2017 GT350 not including any price increases for any options on the car.

With the 2012 Boss 302 coming out in February 2011 it certainly was the most track capable Mustang at the time and it is just common sense that the 2015 Mustang with an independent rear end, larger brakes, better overall suspension would be much improved over the next 3 to 4 years of development.

Having said that you can say all you want about the new 2015/2016 GT PP Mustang but with supposedly only a 9 HP difference (advertised) between both the 2012 Boss cars and the 2015 GT PP the straight line acceleration between both cars is not even close.

I would suggest that with only 9 HP difference between the two cars that the Boss 302 cars at 444 HP were certainly underrated and some dyno results certainly confirm that.

Don't get me wrong the new GT350 is an outstanding vehicle but from an acceleration standpoint there is little difference between my 2012 Boss 302 or my 2015 GT350.

Going beyond the acceleration comparison for these two cars then it is an entirely different game.

I just wanted to make the point that anyone who thinks that the GT350 will be short lived and never be outdone by Ford, take a look at the last 10 years. I want a 350R, or maybe Ford will revise the GT350 and add the Premium Stereo to the Track Pack in the years to come. I want Recaros and the Premium Stereo, not some dinky base radio in my Shelby. One thing is certain though, I will not play the dealer mark up game. A car that they have already commited to producing in the neighborhood of 10,000 units is not exclusive enough for me to pay above sticker.

If you ever visit VIR I would love to ride a few laps in that R.

The side exhaust and/or baffle plates really have no effect on the RWHP on the Boss 302 cars but certainly makes these cars sound outstanding.

With respect to straight line acceleration obviously it is a large part of being a very well balanced and track capable car. Based on conversations with many Boss 302 and GT350 enthusiasts you would be surprised on how important that is to certain people.

Keep in mind that Carroll and his team built nine 1965 Shelby GT350 drag cars so straight line acceleration does mean a lot to some people who own GT350's both back then and now.

Each to his own but I do not share your idea that the GT350 will be long lived and yes ~10,000 units over a 3 year run can be looked at as a high volume number but certainly not anywhere near the ~47,000 units as was the case with the recent GT500 cars.

As far as getting a new GT350/GT350R at MSRP keep looking and I wish you good luck as those deals are out there and it is just a matter of a lot of hard work and effort.

Lastly, obviously you are a Mustang enthusiast based on your comments on the Recaro seats but forget the Premium Stereo idea as these cars have much better sound just by themselves than any stereo on the market.

Got mine in Ottawa 45 days and it sat in Montreal for 10 days at least during the xmas holidays picked it up on january 12th.

You can't go by last years early or mid summer orders as a reference for how soon a car would be delivered, the GT350 didn't start rolling off the production line until August 20th. And for a while they experienced production delays.

That and they are not built on a first come first serve basis, they are built on allocation priority so it could be a few months or 6+ months
