What about an online digital shop manual - anyone have any links to a digital version or user ID/passw we can use as a group?

I think I recall something like that but sharing an account would be illegal and these days it would be very easy to tell it is being shared. You certainly wouldn't want to share it on a public forum. The one from factory manuals isn't that expensive. I used to pay like $400 for a set of paper manuals not too long ago.

I'm unsure which is better - Helm Inc, or the one from Motorcraft's site.

Are they the exact same?

I know the one from Ford Motorcraft is has 3d renders and such.

I believe they are the same. Mine has all of the 3D renders.

I always get the shop manuals from Helm. This is another source, I'm not familiar with them but it is less expensive https://www.factory-manuals.com/
On a whim, I decided to buy a manual from here.

Their site looks a bit sketchy, so it was a bit of a gamble, but they're legit. Essentially they make a 3day motorcraft/helm subscription, and have some sort of program to crawl the shop manual and export it to pdf.

The pdf is huge, and encompasses everything, as far as I can tell. It's a much more convenient form factor, as it allows me to put it on my ipad and reference it when I need it.

The only thing I noticed that doesn't transfer to pdf is the links that are in the normal helm/motorcraft manual. You'll see the blue links, but they're unclickable. Not a huge deal at all, but something worth noting.

The Helm manual looks like a good fit for me.

Thank you, for the replies.

I know I'll have a much better experience dealing with Ford and servicing my vehicle if I can diagnose the problem before going in.

Well, if anyone does find a public PDF resource, please let me know! As awful as my local dealer is at fixing anything, I've found that I have to do lots of the work myself (damn fucking rattling interior!) and it's frustrating without a factory manual and as a matter of principle I don't feel like contributing to Ford's bottom line since I have to fix problems that should have been fixed A) at the factory, or B) at the dealer by the 7th time I've taken the car in.

Just bought it myself. Gave them my VIN and am waiting for my manual.

I bought mine from there as well. I think it was available the next day using their login process. I felt like it was kind of sketchy too, I received some email about some purchase I hadn't made within minutes of committing to the manual purchase. I ignored the spam email and it all worked out fine. When you get your manual it will have your VIN # contained in the pdf, guessing they do that so you will be less likely to copy and distribute it. Anyway, you'll be happy all the info is in it.

Took about a day for me. I think the exact time was ~18 hours, but within expectation. But I also ordered at like 2am.

Why would they need the VIN if you just order the 2015-2016 Service Manual?
If I recall, it was something helm requires. Not completely sure.

Also it appears the manual is made to your car. If you have a 5.0 and manual transmission, then ecoboost and auto info is worthless to you. Since my car is a 5.0 and auto, it only has that in it.

Once you do get your manual, I recommend you make several backups of it just in case you lose it.
