Ship it or Drive it?

Hello All,

I am new here, but I have been following the forum for a while. I just secured a deal for a 2016 GT350 AG, Track Package in Florida. I am debating driving it to California or shipping it. Any thoughts or recommendations?

For those of you who have shipped their cars did you go with open or closed trailer and how was your experience. Shipping company recommendations are also appreciated.

Honestly, at this time of the year I would ship it... Climate change is considerable between here and there.

What company did you use? I am kind of leaning towards shipping it. I am doing a lot of traveling next 3 weeks for work and vacation, I am afraid I will be too tired for a cross country drive at the end of the month.

ROAD TRIP, and make it special. visit people you know across the states on your way home. If you ship it, it just gets to you. If you go and get it, you'll have a story to tell for the rest of your life.

I ended up using a broker, but was originally going to go with intercity lines.

Florida isnt as bad since you can cut through the south and avoid the rockies/sierras, but its still a long slog. Id want to stop after 1000 miles as well and do the first oil change.

Really a personal decision based on your schedule and ability to take the time off. Shipping it was the best for me :cheers:

Just picked mine up in Oklahoma and drove back to CA. Only took a couple of days on HWY40. Car is so easy to drive, plus there were no issues with weather or traffic for me. Some snow in NM, but roads were clear.

I considered it an opportunity, and had a great time seeing the scenery in places I might not otherwise visit.

Ship it. Risky drive with weather as stated. Rock chips from the drive.

Plus if you add up your time, flight, gas, and being away from the family I'm sure you will probably be spending more.

I'm shipping mine with intercity. I've driven FL to Texas countless times, it's a fun drive lots of good stops. TX to CA twice via IH10, it's not a great drive and got tons of road rash (lots of desert, sand and wind). The more northern route out of Texas would be much more scenic.

I love driving and would do either route but the damage risk just doesn't outweigh the shipping cost.
