just wondering the 37xx curb weight listed by Ford, is it with or without driver?

what if it is with driver, what is the assumed driver weight? is is 75KG?

copied this from another forum

EU/Germany:
1. Leergewicht EU ( Car with 90% fuel, 68kg driver, 7kg luggage (75kg). Latest EU definition uses only driver @ 75kg )
2. Leergewicht DIN ( Car with 90% fuel, no driver, no luggage )

USA:
1. Curb weight ( Inconsistent reporting, with or without driver, unknown and inconsistent equipment level ).

Recommendation:
Use the European standards for apples to apples comparison. For cars that lack European weights, further research is needed to determine what is included in that cars stated US "Curb weight".

I seem to recall some dealer weighted their car, but can't find it anymore. I seem to remember it was without drivers.

For reference, without driver the m4 weight in at 1497KG(1572kg-75kg driver)= 3298lbs

Curb weight is always listed as the weight of the car without driver, and a full tank of gas....

that is not exactly true for Euro cars selling in USA

most of them(euro brands) quote their EU weight which includes 68KG driver + 7kg of luggage, then top off with 10% more fluid b/c EU weight is at 90% fluid

having said that I was pretty sure I saw a pic of track pack gt350 weight in at 3800lbs without driver, but man that represents 500lbs over m4 manual, kinda disappointed.

Okay, to clarify.... "US Curb weights" are with a full tank, and no driver.

As the car is supposed to be delivered to the owner. Of course, they rip you off with no fuel fill up these days. ;)

Not sure why other methods are getting mentioned. If you see a 'US' car listed at a curbweight, it is full tank and no driver.

err but yes it is, hard to be believe but it is, for manual m4

DIN weight is 1497kg = 3300lbs that means without drivers
EU weight meaning 90% fluid plus 75kg driver is 1572kg = 3465lb
top off with 10% more fluid plus whatever optional equipment that has over 33% take rate is 3529lbs

those numbers are not made up, taken directly from bmw.co.uk and bmw.de

just google DIN weight you will find the 1497KG number for manual m4.

an M4 is nowhere near 3300#, its more like 3650

Listing weights in any other way, is silly in my opinion.

No driver, and either dry fuel or completely full fuel. That is the only way it should be done if you ask me.

The fact there are multiple methods, is why so many people are clueless about how curb weight is measured.

then why does it say 3530# on BMWUSA website for manual and 3630 for DCT. And those are stripper weights. Bimmerpost has plenty of actual weighed cars with options, more like 3600# with any decent optioning. It was hilarious on the forums when everyone thought it was going to be 3300# and then it was near the official specs above. People really thought an M4 was going to weigh as much as a C7 stringray? Dream on

What exactly does that have to do with US cars? Cars bound for the EU are not 100% the same due to different safety and emissions equipment, thus will not weight the same

For a US bound M4, I would go by what is listed on bmwusa.com.

the c&d article you quoted at 3550lb is fully loaded 84k m4 with CCB and 19''

"The most significant upcharge was $8150 for gigantic carbon-ceramic brakes with gold calipers. Austin Yellow Metallic paint ($550), black 19-inch wheels ($1200), and a Sonoma Beige leather interior.

Other notable items on the window sticker included the $4000 Executive package (leather trim, head-up display, heated steering wheel, rearview camera, keyless access and start, a parking-assist system, headlamp washers, and satellite radio) and the $1900 Lighting package (adaptive LED headlights and automatic high beams). Our car also had the three-way driver-adjustable Adaptive M suspension ($1000), a Harman/Kardon premium audio system ($875), and enhanced Bluetooth and smartphone interfaces ($500).
"
take all those away and get 18'' stock you get close to 3300lb

there is no need to dream on budd, weight is weight, DIN or not, 3300lb is a fact, most people order their car with some kinda options hence the additional weight.

They are def a lot heavier than the m4. Tech pack gt350 is currently the heaviest s550 mustang.

Am I right in saying that this is listed as 1612kg?

If so, that is 355Xlbs?

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Cont...Features_and_Specs/M4CoupeSpecifications.aspx

This says 3530lbs?

So knowing that the US is full tank and no driver, wouldn't you say that the cars ironically match very closely?

that's the thing, bmwusa.com uses EU weight + 10% more fluid, plus whatever options that have more than 33% take rate.
the Eu weight includes 75kg driver, where as Ford listed the weight without driver.

anyways, now I kinda understand why, after the 1/4mile time got published, people on this forum went nuts claiming it was too slow. no wonder the gt350 (which I have) manual vs. manual can't pull away from m4 in the 1/4. with 100hp more power but at least 400lb+ diff. that's why.

For a US bound M4, I would go by what is listed on bmwusa.com.

1612kg is for DCT
1572kg is for manual EU weight, again, includes driver. DIN weight is without driver.

DIN weight for m4 base (18'') is 1497 or 1500kg = 3300lbs.

Check it out.
