Shifting Tips?

I am playing the, "how high can I get my MPG?" game. Which I then lose when I find a good, open stretch of street.

LOL. Every time I drive it, I can't seem to stop trying to see how fast I can get to 60. No freaking idea how some of you are properly breaking-in the engine. I know I'm sure not. I try, but then I fail.

I have tried to take it mostly easy. However I do find the Red light on the RPM gauge helpful!
