In Manitoba: "Section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act states: every motor vehicle shall at all times be equipped with a muffler in good working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise, and no person shall use a muffler cut-out, straight exhaust, gutted muffler, Hollywood muffler, by-pass or similar device upon a motor vehicle on a highway. R.S.P.E.I. 1974, Cap. H-6, s.126. Altered pipes are subject to a Summary Offence Ticket of $ 275.00."

Da fook is a Hollywood muffler? Also, aren't most aftermarket mufflers DOT approved?
What defines excessive or unusual  you if ask me, aftermarket exhausts don’t seem excessive or unusual to me

Ontario has the same law. Wording is virtually identical.

I'm old enough to know that back in the late 50's there was company that made a loud muffler and it was called, wait for it, a Hollywood muffler. I have no idea what company made it, but as I recall it was a glasspack of some kind.

When I was a kid the old lady across the road ran a boarding house for single females working in the local factories. Their boyfriends would show up in their '56 Fords, Mercs, '56-'57 Chevys and so forth, all equipped with the de rigueur Hollywood mufflers, moon hubcaps, duals with goofy chrome tips and so forth. Oh yes, and the dangle balls around the inside of the windshield. Smokes tucked under the sleeve of the tshirt, greaser hair cuts, jeans rolled up at the ankles.

Go get a copy of American Graffiti and watch it, there ya go, greasers, punks and Hollywood mufflers.

Yeah, I'm an old guy.:headbang:

I put mine up on CL in Houston. You know, a metro area with over 6 million people. Absolutely zero interest. Even at just $100. ZERO!!!!!
I cant even give my stock GT mufflers away for free.

Stupid nanny state. Glad it isn't that way in Tx. "Hollywood muffler" is vague. It could mean anything louder than stock. That just means you can be hassled if the law decides they don't like you on a given day.

Excellent movie! And yes growing up in the 70's for me we called those red cigar shaped glasspacks "cherry bombs" lol. IIRC thrush made em.

Yeah it is pretty vague. Just wish they'd pull over those imports and there fart cans more often. Annoying AF.

Try Facebook for sale groups that are local to you. Mine were gone within 24 hours of posting, and I had multiple people that wanted them when I posted as free.

Everything is going to the scrap bin except the piping which is just going to be used for welding practice.

Mine got squirreled away in my shop attic for future potential use in the event the car ever gets put back 100% stock. Even though I highly doubt that will happen, at least while I'm the owner.....

I've been able to sell similar things down the road once cars are over 10 years old though, then certain things suddenly become desirable to some.
