I’m a big fan of the Ranchero and El Camino
Same here. I’ve got a buddy that just picked up an LS7 that he’s planning on dropping into his El Camino. That thing is going to be insane when he’s done with it

All I know is that BMW Ms sales have broken previous records. Just look at how many YT channels feature G80s. It’s insane. And recently all the Hellcat owners have started moving on to the M cars.

Ford Marketing is making the same mistakes as GM Marketing that let the Camaro die.
Is it marketing or is it simply NA vs FI? The BMW turbocharged i6 engines are pretty much bomb proof and they're already FI'd out of the factory obviously. You can market all you want but the performance numbers are what they are.

If i wanted to go the absolute fastest, would I have bought the GT? Probably not.. but I love high revving NA engines and the coyote never fails to not put a smile on my face at 7000 rpm.

Add the reskinned BMW Toyota Supra to the list.
Look at the GR Supra GT4 vs. Ford Perf. S650 Dark Horse track effort.

It’s marketing. BMW has been supporting YTbers and social media intensively. They have a large presence. And then just look at the Hellcats, as soon as rappers started featuring the cars, the sales also skyrocketed. GM did complete opposite, and they let a fantastic car die. They never marketed the Camaro…at all.

Ford should have invested in features a new Mustang in the John Wick franchise. Instead, Dodge got in there and it paid off for them too.

Any specifics on what BMW is doing supporting youtube and social media? Not that I don't believe you, but my algorithm must not be attuned to it 😀

I don’t work for BMW, but my feed is full of channels featuring M series vehicles (and domestics). And the sales records by BMW support it. I’ll give you an example, a relatively prominent Mustang YT channel just purchased a new GT350 as part of the owner’s collection. And the GT350 was sold by the owner to buy an F80. And it was a Whippled GT350 too.

Want a coupe? F87/G87. Want a sedan? F80/G80. Want a GT? F82/G82. Luxury, and performance. BMW knows how to market their products. And these aren’t cheap cars.

I don't see how that is BMW "supporting" these channels. They made a really nice performing car that's already turbo charged from the factory, can handle a ton of power, and is very responsive to mods. And while it's not an omgluxury experience car, it's far nicer inside than what you get for the same money from Ford... again when you are paying 60k for a car, the expectations went way up. To me it's more of an engineering win from BMW than it is a marketing fail by Ford.

All BMW glazing aside, these cars are something i would lease and dump after 3 years. While the engines are stout and reliable, you're still driving a BMW and parts and service are absurd. Hope these guys like doing all their own work or you're paying $2500 for a brake job.

Surprised this was not mentioned yet, but it looks like the S650 has been cracked and will be tunable now.

Wondering if this was done purposely since the sales numbers have been really low on the new Mustang. Could Ford be looking to boost sales by attracting the aftermarket modders?
we actually broke about two weeks ago

We had the inside track

No, it was not done on purpose. Fore is actually highly upset.

At some point though part of what sells a car to an enthusiast is its potential. I can't tell you how many people i know who factor in ease of modding to their car buying purchase.

The GT is a very unforgiving car to mod, you basically get nothing until you do e85, which isn't widely available to everyone.

Compared to a BMW where you can buy a tuning device and download 100+ hp with your phone to your car. People like that shit, even if most of them never do it, they like that.

I can't imagine it helping sales that much.

Baseline price is now 48k?
Premium + Performance pack like 60k?

That's supra, m2 , used c8 corvette territory
Base price 46,560 for a GT. Up from 39,630 for my 2020 GT.

57,430 for a GT with a PP. Your numbers are all a bit off.

I would take a GT manual over any of the cars you mentioned above. M2 would be a close 2nd but no V8 and questionable reliability long term.

Mustang looks better than every car you mentioned, by a lot.

IMO the value for the Mustang is still there, everything got more expensive but still can't beat what the Mustang offers for the price.

To most people 57k is 60k. It’s too expensive for a car that is basically the same as one that originally sold for mid 40’s. I don’t have it offhand, but the sticker price for my 2019 PP1 is startlingly close to what a base GT goes for now.

Most people will pick those other cars over a mustang, the sales numbers prove it.

The drive an ownership experience is more refined on the BMW offerings that’s what people like. The value isn’t there, it’s just not the same caliber of car as an M or a used c8 and the price is really high now.

It also didn't hurt that while I was finishing up the deal on my BMW they actually asked if I wanted an aftermarket Carbahn tune installed by them before I took final delivery. BMW has went all in on the performance side of cars and it's working. There are literally zero new M's sitting. If they aren't sold in advance they sell within a day or so of arriving at the dealerships. I ordered and it took >2 months to get one.
