Yeah when I paid for the struts and shocks replacements for the front I paid about $1100. They were charging me another $980ish for just the control arms.

the mechanic back with my parents charged me $800 for upper and lower control arms

Do you lift the car and torque or do you do it when it’s on the ground?
I read several comments of control arms. Steeda's video provides guidance why you should torque at curb.

Yes this is a PP1. I haven’t done much to the car except as mentioned ^, I don’t believe it has a chassis bracing? I’m going to get it aligned today and see if that changes anything.
An alignment wont resolve that, I'd save the money. You need to find another mechanic and have them look for the clunk.

PP1 has the strut tower bar and firewall brace up top, and another brace down below.

I only have recommendations, for turning sway, could be tires and some streets that have those lines, sometimes my tires will follow the line and be annoying cause i have to fight it or also to if you have lowering springs i would recommend bump steer kit, after i had my pedders springs installed, any bump i hit would cause it to pull in that direction aggressively and now no issues. I did have issues hearing a clunk but was caused by sway bar links and camber plate bearing, some people put grease to quiet it down but it makes a mess, reason for me upgrading to camber plates was my old strut top mounts were causing like a scratchy creek when turning at a stop or hit a bump, then switched to BC racing coilovers and no more issues with sound.
