Anyone got a technique to reduce them rusty rotors after a wash? My routine usually ends with a detail spray and car cover immediately after washing. Unfortunately that first drive ends up with a nice film of rust on my front wheels. hate it

I drive the car when that area is still wet and let it heat dry via brake pressure. I'm sure there's a better way but that's what I do.

Avoid getting water on the rotor when washing.
Do you use wheel cleaner?

It wipes off the first time you apply the brakes, don't worry about it.

Off the rotors? Exactly. It wipes off and gets all over the wheels. This is what I want to prevent

theres no way to avoid it , unless you get different rotors. even high end ones do that just not as much. think dba and others use zinc which helps but it doesnt totally get rid of it

Just back the car with a few brake pump applications then same forward. You don't even need to drive anywhere.

^^This^^

If you live in a very arid climate, it happens less, but there's no avoiding rust on the rotors. Even if you don't get them wet, they'll develop the coat of rust from just the humidity in the air. The vast majority of brake rotors are simply cast iron. Rust is a fact of life.

Best,

Since were on the subject. Does anyone else's brakes squeak like crazy every morning then go away after a minute of driving or so?

If you park outside yes, the rust will make the brakes make some noise.

I always drive my car until the engine warms up at least and then more after washing and drying. Dries the rotors and the wind blow dries other stuff like the little crevices in the grill, etc

Mine are the opposite. Quiet then progressivly squeak louder, then they start to groan.
