You've made my point.

The best Nissan can get after thoroughly massaging their 6 is still over 100 hp down from the entry level mustang v8.
3.7 vs 5.0 is not a fair comparison. The 3.7 makes more power per displacement.

it has an engine!
Not from Ford, don't care.
What are you talking about?

1) The GT500 is built on the exact same production line as every other Mustang. That would be the Auto Alliance International facility in Flat Rock, Michigan.

2) The 5.4L ans 5.8 engines are hand-assembled at Ford's Romeo engine facility and then shipped to AAI to be installed in the GT500.

3) The cars are NOT built by Ford and Shelby. SVT designed and engineered the vehicle as the replacement vehicle for the '03-'04 Cobras of the previous generation. The internal name for the car was "Condor". The cars would have been produced as Cobra's if not for the fact that Ford and Shelby reconciled their past issues and, as a brilliant marketing move, struck a deal by which the "Condor" and "trinity" would wear Shelby's name and GT500 moniker instead of being released as a "Cobra" Mustang.

4) GT500's never see Carroll Shelby's Las Vegas facility and not one part on the GT500's is anything other than what is produced by Ford Motor Company. Only super snakes go to Las Vegas And gt shebly packages.

5) GT500's are not tuned by Shelby, they are calibrated by Ford just like every other Mustang produced.

I assume he meant this article isn't from Ford, so he doesn't care. He's right, it's just another internet rumour for now but, as that's all we've got to go on, I'll take it

Which wouldn't happen at the larger displacements. Not to mention the 5.0 itself isnt gunning for as much power as it can wrring out.

We have been over this.

In addition, My comment was in response to someone comparing entry level v8 power. I used Ford's.

But since that 6 cylinder is representative of Nissans best effort, a better comparison is the voodoo. Or... we can look at the McLaren P1 again if your'e still hung upp on displacement.

The v8 simply has potential for more.

It's simple.

Can a v6 be developed to be more powerful than a v8? sure.

But can a v8 be developed to be evven more powerful than that? absolutely.

And that is the point.

The GT500 is about monstrous power.

A TT v8 would be the perfect solution.

Let's hope Ford gives it too us.

Ultimately, the rendering represents some fun ideas, but a step back in terms of design.

And a twin turbo v8 would bring joy to everyones hearts.

I'm curious as to this seemingly new design detail of extending the 'fenders' forward of the headlights/bumper/frontal plane a slight bit.

The new Camaro appears to do this...and the first I'd seen it was on the LFA. Just wondering if anyone understands or could explain how this might be an advantageous aerodynamic detail. I've spoken to a few people and none of us can come up w/ a reasonable theory. It would be easy to dismiss it as nothing more than aesthetic, but based on what I've read on the LFA, no extraneous elements were employed that did not serve a function.

Interesting. Curious about that too. I have thought it was simply an aesthetic choice.

I'm not following. Can you explain it better?

You went off on an epic (but factual) tangent.

He was referring to the render and rumor :)

Edit: I see someone beat me to it, all is well :)

They will likely use a TT V8. It's an engine that Chevy doesn't have an answer for.
Ford will use whatever engine fits their business model. The Ford GT uses the Gen 2 Ecoboost because that's their company branding. What better way to prove it works by putting your branding strategy in a Halo car.

Possible 2015 GT500?

I was surfing on the fordparts.com page, when I was given a choice to select my sub model of the 2015 Mustang and the 3 options were: -Base -Gt -Gt500.
Later I had to choose an engine, where a 2.3L 4Cyl, a 3.7L 6Cyl, a 5.0L 8Cyl AND a 5.2L 6Cyl were to choose.
I'd like to hear your opinions. Possible leak? :eyebulge:
