Really? all this fuss over a V6 turbo? If its good enough for the Raptor TRUCK and the GT40 come on guys....it would sound wicked and wont have a boat anchor in the front, may actually hand great too !! this is progress.....Chev will get rid of the 7.0L for smaller eventually, as technology changes all the engines will be smaller. Its inevitable....sorry
It is inevitable only so long as there is no desire by the manufacturer to give the v8 comparable attention.

No reason for that.

When did I ever say I wasn't comparing to FI v8's?

That's about as apples to apples as it gets between the two.

Want to compare N/A? The 2013 Nissan VQ 37 NISMO makes more hp than most entry level v8's, and is only 15 ho shy of the Ecoboost 3.5.

V and I6 applications can in some cases do everything a v8 can. Hell, it's even true in the world of diesels.

I actually believe FOrd may just go TT V6. They have been refining it for years, and now the app is in the New GT and the Raptor. Note RAPTOR! The same Raptor that has ALWAYS had a V8 ! Now its getting a HP TT V6 and people will still love it.

Though it may break from tradition, I would not hesitate to buy a GT500 with a TT6 in it. Cars are not about how many cylinders there are but how the PERFORM. Lol lets roll back to 2008. The CURRENT V6 matches the V8 from that era and a Ecoboost 4 makes MORE power !!!!

But I guess you would rather get that 08 since its a V8 and all.....

I would submit this. If the GT is still a V-8 then the GT500 will be a V-8. I think it would hurt sales and that is what they are in the business of doing. Maybe the GT in 2018 will be a V6TT as well. Just not as potent. Audi does this with the S and RS line as well.

Why "RIP" NA engines?

The GT500 has been FI since it was reintroduced almost a decade ago.
No one thought NA engines were dying then.

Same car keeping same formula (in the induction dept.) shouldn't cause this kind of reaction.
It's just a personal preference.

You've made my point.

The best Nissan can get after thoroughly massaging their 6 is still over 100 hp down from the entry level mustang v8.

And that's why an FI 8 cylinder is the way to go. It's s better starting point, a better ending point, and has more potential down the road.

True it's about PERFORMANCE.

You seem to have some confusion as to folks here not understsnding the difference.

Will a v6 with turbos perform? Of course.

Will it outperform outdated engine architecture with two more cylinders? Sure.

Will it outperform a new, high performance v8 design also using turbos? NOPE.

and that's the point.

The 8 can make much more power even to swing the power to wright ratio significantly to its advantage.

It's simply true.

Now... Does that mean afore has to follow that logic? No. They'll do what they want for reasons that behoove them.

But the v8 in the gt500 given the same attention and care as s v6 will be the better engine every time.

V6 GT500, JUST SAY NO!

No way will that fly yet. In a couple years when Obummer's fuel mileage restrictions take hold of things, you might be lucky to get a V6EB in anything but a Super Duty truck, much less a V8 in anything. If the "greenies" have their way, the Hot Mustang will eventually be the 4 banger hybrid, instead of the base plugin electric or 1Liter EB with 13 speed automatic.

My point is that both built to the same degree (FI) make similar power.

I own a '15 GT PP, and I chose it over the new 370Z NISMO. I know full well the advantages a v8 has when it comes to a N/A setup. My truck however it a FI 6.

I hope it's a TT 5.0 as well, but ford has been pushing the Ecoboost moniker hard lately.

What would be even better is a small displacement 8.

Thinking more about it now the V6 was used in the GT because of weight and size; why go for a V8 when power would be limited to about 600hp anyway when it races at Le Mans? Detune a heavier, larger V8 defeats the purpose if you're really going out to win. They'll take no chances here as it's the 50th anniversary of Ford dominating Le Mans and they will try anything at all costs. Developing the V6 for the GT is a no brainer whe looked at like that.

The GT500 has no such racing categories to conform to. One of its objectives though could be regaining that "most powerful V8" title.

Most people didn't understand that about the new GT. thanks!

Whatever ford does, they'll try to dethrone the hellcat. Even if it isn't more powerful, it will certainly be faster.
