I got turned on to this product a while back to use on my wife’s Pilot due to one of her door seals would drip in a heavy rain. I’ve been using it on both cars and no issues and no leaking. I haven’t had any negative issues with using it. Once or twice a year I smear it on the seals to keep them up.

Thanks man, I’ll look into that product. Is this locally or did you order it?

do you also put it on the piece I am asking about?

Wow, it’s amazing how something you have no clue about and once you goggle it, how popular it is 🤷🏽‍♂️

thanks for this

Welcome to the convertible club! I had your exact question years ago when I first bought my drop top pony. Basically all you need to do is get some silicone lubricant, clean that general area and spray it on the rubber and window trim. The rubber will dry out and get dirty which can cause minor cracking in the rubber and sometimes prevent the rear windows from rolling all the way up if they are dirty. Need to get a slick path for them to work like a charm 100% of the time.

There are tons of different silicone lubricants out there, I use the Super Tech brand which can easily be found on Amazon, Walmart and AutoZone. They all work. Pick your favorite brand and spray the rubber area and window trim once or twice a year. You won't have any issues. Also spray a little bit in the window track area too, that definitely helps as well.

I have not treated that particular seal but I have used both silicone and dielectric grease on the seal on the leading edge of the rear window. I found that the dielectric grease stays on the seal a very long time but does leave a smear on the rear edge of the front window. +1 on the comment regarding the window tracks, these cars are notorious for people having issues with the rear windows not closing fully and that helps. Also, when closing windows put the rear windows up first then the fronts.

i think the stealerships should give a crash course on owning a vert. So much more owning a vert compared to the fast back. But we all know there interests, sell sell sell.

I think a smear is easier to repair than a seal so I ok with that 👍🏾

AND I DID NOT KNOW THAT IT IS RECOMMENDED TO CLOSE THE REAR FIRST🤷🏽‍♂️ Thanks for that 👍🏾

That ShinEtsu grease is awesome. I used it on the original T-Top seals of my MR2 and it fixed any leaks I had.

The sunroof on our Rogue sticks to the rear seal constantly and "pops" when tilting. I presume that this would be a good product to reduce/eliminate that?

I would think so, hope it’s not something else like something out of alignment.

Keep off the window contact surfaces unless you like greasy window edges and felt wiper edge.

Hey guys, so long weekend and the start of the lubing.
I just Wanted to double check. Do I lube just inside the circled area or both the circled area and the area I have underlined? Plus everything else of course.
