Sensors are a great option. Especially useful on a base car as the camera is small.

The sensors are worth it because their range of vision is wider than the camera. The sensors pick up the pillars in my garage that aren't visible in the camera view, them being off to the side and all.
+1, I think that people that don't have them don't quite get it.

The backup camera is great for visually seeing whats behind you (backing over kids, bicycles etc). The sensors provide an extra warning for the areas you cannot see. The sensors lateral range is unbelievable.

People fly down parking rows, and the sensors will absolutely save your ass (pun intended) when you are backing out of a spot between tall/long vehicles.

IMO, when you have camera, the sensors are kinda pointless.
The only time I can see sensors being useful is if the camera gets very dirty.
They pick up movement on the sides that the camera can't catch. Has helped me several times in my wife's explorer.

What's next? Have your car driven for you? People rely too much on technology these days (myself included).

I have it, and like it. One morning they went off because of a jogger on the street by my house. Who wasn't wearing any kind of reflective or bright clothes, in the dark. Would have likely run over him without the sensors.

Saved me more than they cost already.

I ordered my car and just picked it up a little over a week ago. Got it without backup sensors. Car is expensive enough as it is, I didn't buy anything I didn't really want or felt I needed. 400A with perf pack and premier trim, I'm good.

I do agree it's nice to have but I can get by without it. I have for all these years, pretty sure I'm not going to forget how to backup anytime soon. I still have eyes, mirrors, and a camera.

Pretty soon people are going to start demanding trunk monkeys wearing traffic vests and white gloves to pop out every time you want to back up. :headbonk:

I will take sensors over a camera any day if the week. Cameras sometimes get dirty and ya can't see shit. My sensors have yet to fail me on my last two F150s and this car.

Sensors here. Had them on my '12 as well. They help a lot, the camera doesn't really have the depth it should, so the sensors help me when reversing into a parking space that might be close to a wall or something.

Well worth it. The camera is mandated, but the sensors make it work that much better.

I love the white tire lines too. makes parallel parking a breeze. i've always been good at it, but now i usually don't even have to adjust at all.

What is the difference in these and that "cross traffic alert" stuff with the BLIS package?
You bring up a very good point as I feel people are mistakenly talking about 2 different features.

Reverse sensing system is capable of detecting stationary or slow moving objects that are about 6 feet away from the back of the car or closer. Emphasis on the slow moving. Anything over 3-5 mph and the detection can be spotty. This system uses sonar.

Rear Cross traffic alert that is bundled with BLIS uses long range radar to look left and right of the car while backing. This is the system that will warn you that someone is coming down the aisle when you are parked between 2 SUVs.

I have both systems and love them both for what they do. The backup sensors (as already mentioned) see things the camera can never see. They see things when the camera can't see them due to:
-- dirt (some of us daily drive these and they get dirty)
-- Rain (literally 1 drop in the right place completely obscures the view)
-- blinding sun
-- darkness. (though the night vision is pretty good on it)

I looked at it this way: How many times would the sensors have to save you from repainting your bumper to make them worth it?

Mine has them and they are very worth it! The camera is nice and a great help but the sensors can help fill in when trying to back out from between SUVs and lifted trucks! The sensors will pick up from the sides which the camera can't see. I would say they are definitely worth it.
I agree. When you're parked next to a SUV, van or truck it's great. Saved the ass end of my car more than once.

BLIS is designed to pick up cars NEXT to you or quickly coming up behind you on the sides that might be hidden in your blind spot and hits you with a warning light in your side mirrors. Entirely different purpose then the back up rear bumper alert sensors.

I have BLIS and like it (originally didn't think i would) but it is a tool and not and end in itself--you still need to 'look'- just a back up system to cover your 'blind spot'.
