For me, that 'short while' was exactly one day. Fook that I said to myself haha.

Muffler delete with OEM resonator and cats isnt really loud at all IMO, especially compared to catless or resonator delete setups, and has no drone.

Heres a comparison of stock vs muffler delete (qtp cutouts)

I wouldn't say it's "not loud at all", but it's definitely overstated on here IMO. But obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion. Cutouts are nice stealthy way to do it.

OP is in Virginia. Cutouts are illegal and I believed she mentioned driving past her friendly neighborhood state trooper on a regular basis in another thread. And without looking up the safety inspection manual I am not 100% sure, but would guess it is an Item that would fail her for her annual safety inspection also.

I think cutouts are illegal in most places. Here we stopped doing safety inspections, but yeah you'd probably fail for that unless you toss a $20 at your inspector to pretend he didn't see it, lmao.

As far as the cops thing, cops never bother me at all. Driving normally isn't very loud and not a single person would complain about it.

Most have sound standards anyway, so it doesn't matter much. No mufflers = too loud

Debatable, lol (unless we're DB measuring by state standards then yes). I don't know if you've heard some of the real loud setups, like long tubes and straight pipes with no cats. Or even the Roush cat back. I can promise my setup isn't any louder than that. It's less raspy too since I kept the stock resonator.

But as I've said, it's all a matter of opinion. It's not the best setup ever, but for the money it's fun to try. The AWE Touring catback is the golden standard if you have the $1500 for it.

It's not really a matter of opinion regards the law. It's pretty much illegal everywhere to not have a muffler. Even with a muffler, if you are too loud that can be a violation too in many states, some use dBA meters.

I've heard my fair share of loud cars.

I was talking about the full Roush cat back, lol. Obviously it's not going to be louder than full straight pipes. But the Roush "mufflers" are single chamber and don't do much.

But sure, I don't disagree that if you go this route you may have legal troubles. I haven't yet.

Ya some states are way strict on dB/ volume levels. At home in AZ I'm fine but when I travel to So Cal I usually get stopped lol. Some tracks have dB restrictions too. But still have mufflers so no drone and the tone is cleaner.

I'd never recommend the muffler delete. Introduces drone and the tone itself is not pleasant.
I like unpleasant things 👍🏻 It's just something I have to experience myself.
Couldn't do it today since the shop I wanted to go to was closed today. To be continued 😁

Safety inspection is fine I still have 7 months for that.
