Thanks. How much was the loudness in terms of percentage reduced on your car?
Hard to say. Definitely took volume down, refined the tone some so a little less rasp. I have some before and after clips I'll share.

I know you probably won’t want this option, but I have the 2011/12 GT500 mufflers on mine with an H pipe and never looked back. Great throaty, deep Mustang tone, good volume but not wake the neighbors type. Quiet cruising on highway and through neighborhoods. You need custom welding though. You can still keep your resonator delete and no additional mods needed like resonator bullets etc.
I run this setup too. I’m looking at cat deletes or long tubes but I’m hoping it doesn’t make it obnoxious. I don’t see a lot of S550s that went to the trouble to weld the gt500s in but to me it sounds perfect.

I saw a video running this setup with catted headers. It sounded great, not too insane. It’s good not many people have the setup, makes it unique.

Update:

I ordered the Magnaflow resonated x-pipe from CJ Pony Parts and had it installed today. My initial thoughts are...disappointing. This mid-pipe really neutered the sound of the car. Much more so than I expected. Its so quiet now that I can barely hear it when I stomp on it. I would say a 70% reduction in volume from the h-pipe. In fact I would almost venture to say that its as quite if not quieter than stock now and that's with aftermarket SLP Loudmouth II axle-backs! Tone wise its still better than stock, problem is you can't hear it inside the car. I sincerely hope it gets louder after it breaks in. And not by just a little.

Give it about 200-250 miles to burn in. The borla resonator took that long to bring up its volume to the eventual peak...was very quiet initially.

I was going to wait but wanted to post an update since I was a little negative in my last update.

I'm at about 180 miles and the sounds has definitely come up some. It's still by no means loud but it's much better. My wife complemented how nice it sounds in the cabin. Not remotely loud or obtrusive but you can hear the note. I have to say from outside of the car it sounds really nice. It's dead quite at warm idle in traffic which is fine by me. But when you gas it the sounds is there and it definitely doesn't sound stock. Cold start ups are back to being moderately loud but not embarrassing like before.

But thing that's really struck me it how smother and quicker the acceleration feels. At first I thought it was in my head but I literally feel like I got tune on the car. I didn't realize it it until now but I think the custom H-pipe was really restricting the exhaust flow. It just feels like a different car.

The sound level is still just an tad under what I'd prefer but overall I'm very happy with this set up. I would definitely recommend that MF resonated x-pipe.

Glad to hear. It really does change after a couple hundred miles.

You still happy with the tru x resonator? Planning to install one to quiet the cold starts with the borla axle backs. Currently have an h pipe.

Yeah I'm still happy with it. Just don't panic after installation. Its gonna be super quiet for about a hundred miles or so. Give it about 2-3 hundred to get full volume up.

Thanks. I will hang on to the h pipe after swapping it out. Will give it some time to compare. I assume it will be a direct replacement for the MRT h pipe, and could be switched back.

You guys were both spot on. Had the magnaflow tru x installed about a week ago, and was initially disappointed with how quiet it was - sounded about stock. I had a road trip over the weekend and was able to put a few hundred miles on it. Significantly improved. I would say the overall volume is reduced about 25-30% from the h pipe, with an aggressive, deep sound. Very happy with the end result. Combination with the borla s type axle back hit the mark for me. Thanks for the advice.
