anybody have any good videos of their car with just a resonator delete. i would like give the exhaust a little tone, but i really dont like the sound of most of the exhaust systems. ive been on the fence about the mbrp race and the flowmaster outlaw. Curious if anyone has experience with the Res delete.

If you want some sound that isn't killer loud and has a good deep tone for cheap, do a muffler delete. It sounds really good and isn't raspy as long as the resonator and cat is in place. I'd do that before I'd delete the resonator, which isn't gonna give much more tone/sound with the factory mufflers.

I seriously thought about trying that. The thing that held me back was I couldn't find a good recording so I could listen to it first. I was scared to cut out my mufflers and hack up the exhaust and I'd end up with a car that sounded like a kid's Honda Civic, loud raspy and obnoxious. Instead, I chose the Magnaflow Street catback which I think is very nice. It's not loud, no drone and gives it a lower tone. Plus the install is super convenient. You literally just loosen the clamps after the cat, drop the hangers and slide the whole thing out in tact. If I ever want to return to stock, it's super simple.

I see now in the exhaust clip thread there's a video clip of a muffler delete. I'm glad I didn't do that, that is still too raspy for me.

There's no video clip in there for the Magnaflow Street catback but here's one: [ame=""]

Plus I love the tips.

I have the mbrp race exhaust and it sounds much better than the videos lead you to believe. At idle, it pops and crackles a little with a very deep tone. When driving, it's tame until you get down on it, then it it's a bit raspy with crackles and pops. Still sounds good though. If you've owned v8s all your life, nothing will "fix" the sound. It isn't the car, it is your ears.

The videos I watched made it seem like deleting the resonator would make for a nice increase in volume. It did not. At best, it's a small increase in volume with the factory mufflers. Nothing else. It's barely noticeable inside the car. Mixed with some better mufflers it's probably worth it, but by itself don't bother.

My first week of ownership 1 year ago I had the mufflers deleted. Got rid of the ugly muffler look and cheap tips. Decent exhaust note. Thought about deleting the suit case resonator but wasn't nuts about the raspyness( is that a word?).
Spent a lot of time listening to exhaust videos and decided on the SOLO Cat Back. Have had it for several weeks. Love it. No ugly mufflers showing, 4 1/2" tips. Nice deep sound. A few pops.
Cold start doesn't wake up the neighbors. I have had SLP Loudmouth exhausts on my Z28 and Vette. Not very neighbor friendly.
Exhaust notes are pretty subjective. Good luck.

I dont think i have a video but i'll check. I have a roush axleback (so basically stock) but i deleted the resonator and installed a y pipe. i love it. only thing im going to do after this is a downpipe for sound. I'll probably do custom pipework from the downpipe too for the size consistency because as it sits the size of the pipe changes about 3 or 4 times from the stock downpipe back

My third to last mod that I did was the y-pipe resonator delete and it did basically nothing, maybe 1 or 2 more db at open throttle but that's it, oh well.

TC

Just do a muffler delete and call it a day.

Videos for muffler delete do it no justice. They are what made me purchase the MBRP Race at first. That thing droned with the windows up too much.....so I put the stock exhaust back on and had a shop do a muffler delete.

Best $100 I spent on the car. At idle its as quiet as stock, but makes good sound when you get on it.

I did a resonator delete Y pipe and it got just a tiny bit louder under throttle. I am waiting on Jones Full Boar mufflers which should give me the volume bump I want. A resonator and muffler delete is just a bit too much for me.

Not to get to off topic, but how much does the stock resonator weigh?

I did a resonator delete and it barely made any volume difference, There was virtually no difference when inside the car with the windows up or down. I recently installed MBRP's street exhaust though and it was exactly what I was looking for. Magnaflow's street set up is extremely close to it in terms of sound and volume as well but with a better quality fitment. My MBRP had to be beaten into place in more than a few areas.

MBRP has a low tone, especially at idle.
It doesn't get raspy.
It's quiet until you get on it.
It pops and crackles at redline and it doesn't drone at highway speeds.

My fiance doesn't even mind it and she get's migraines easily.
