What local shop? I'm in north texas and need a shop that doesn't charge stupid prices and does good work.Dave, your resonator-delete (with Y-pipe welded-in) and the pair of Magaflows (with stainless double-wall 4" tips) works exactly as you stated above. I had mine done for me a local muffler shop (total cost a little over $420). I agree also it sounds better.... still near-stock idle and cruise, but a bit deeper with more "presence" IMHO. On throttle, a more pleasant (and deep) engine growl which actually sounds pretty good....... sounds more like a sports car engine should and not a Camry. Overall sound not too different from many street catback kits for sale.
By the way, the resonator-delete also serves another function: it removes a restrictive (and over-heated) element of the exhaust (remember the recall for exhaust heat/insulation mod) also a component coming right after the also restrictive and hot downpipe/catalytic converter. The Y-pipe allows the hot gasses to flow very quickly to the two rear Magnaflows (with also less restriction) thus giving an overall better-managed exhaust flow.
Highly recommend this approach.![]()
