For those of us who are still recovering from the purchase of our new beauties, I've found a simple and cheap fix to the "my 5.0 is too quiet" problem.

A simple resonator delete to hold you through until that full system you want is in your reach. My local exhaust shop charged me $40.

This is a great and simple mod. The mufflers stayed on. We went to a true dual straight pipe on it where the resonator was. She's nice and polite at idle and when cruising along. But, stand on that gas pedal and hear her growl! I owe you all a video, I know. But here are some pics!

And that's not me in any photo haha. Except the toe of my boot. :)

You probably lost some power due to not having an H or X for scavenging anymore. Would not recommend.

How much power do you think he lost? I can't see him losing any more than maybe 2 or 3 HP. Hell his resonator was probably more restrictive than the straight pipes.

Do want to hear sound on this. And if you get a chance maybe a dyno?

From everything I've read you should have cross gases with an H or X pipe. Does anyone know of an H or X pipe that we can buy and have welded in?

Can you post video so we can hear it?

You can pick up 3-5 HP just from going from H pipe to X pipe, so going to straight pipes I'd bet you lose about that much. That's my ballpark guess but a dyno is the only way to know for sure.

Lethal just released one.

Maybe I should have been a bit more clear...

This is not a performance mod. This is pretty much cosmetic. I'm not claiming to see gains. I'm not going to waste the money to dyno this. The point of this is to show you all a cheap way to get a better sound out of the 5.0 without doing much work.

435hp - a 2-5hp loss is a 0.45% to 1.1% loss. Really not a big deal for something to keep me smiling until the aftermarket starts to fill out.

I'll post a video asap. Possibly tomorrow. Just need an assistant haha.

Hey Ruin! I would do it in a heart beat!
I am a 1320 guy for sure. I guess it depends on what rpm range your racing of choice requires but it has been my experience over the years that a 400+ HP V8 at 6,000+ RPMs loves ANY exhaust that is more free flowing and never ever LOST power. Are you guys talking about maybe in the middle like 2500rpms or something? A small dip in torque? Watch all these shop and tuner cars....if they are out to make big power even NA, I almost guarantee you they will use 1 7/8" headers and a full 3" exhaust without cats. just my .02 though

Are you going to sell or keep the suitcase? If not would you mind cutting it open to show us what is in there? Thanks. :)

Can you tell us if there's any drone at steady speeds?

No drone at all. Is very mild. There's not quite the rumble I'm looking for, but this will work for now. :)

Suitcase is gone. Scrapped. I didn't see any need to keep it or inspect it. Most of us will get rid of it with aftermarket piping anyway.
