It's about time for me to replace my windshield wipers and I wanted to know if getting the OEM ones are the best option or should I look for something else?

Bump.

On my cars I tend to stick with OEM. On my FRS you could buy the rubber refills and just switch those out and keep the arms and it was like 15$ and I never found wipers that lasted as long. I could keep em for 2-3 years. Not sure if ford sells the rubber inserts

I purchased Michelin Guardian on a deal from Costco and was disappointed with the Michelin's "universal" attachment look. It lacked the aesthetics of OEM. I'll have to admit, that a couple years later, I don't even notice.

However, I'll probably go back to OEM because I like what I deem a more refined look. But function wise, the Michelin blades do quite well.

I know you’re in central Florida Nathan just like me. I know I just got here but even when I was in California I never turned on my wipers they’re basically brand new unless I was wiping off somebody’s bullshit from their washer fluid flying over their car. Hopefully I never have to change mine out.

The rubber will deteriorate over time. Living in Florida you will basically have to leave the car in shelter if you don't want to use your wipers. Rubber blades are inexpensive to replace and it's better to be safe than sorry with wipers. There is no reason the Arms shouldn't last the life of the car.

Are you asking about blade replacement or arm replacement? The arms should outlast the car. Rubber blades are easily replaced. Your choice of oem or aftermarket. The only difference, as noted above, may be connector asthestetics.

Oh absolutely. The car is garage kept out of sun and never sees rain. I may change him eventually on one of my oil changes. 15k.

I keep my car in the garage which reduces the aging of the blade rubber. I also drive the Fusion if possible when rain is forecasted. But then, though retired, my wife drives the Fusion nearly every day so I get in a pinch, I may have to drive the Mustang in the rain.
All that said, my wipers do last a long time, given my storage and driving habits...but when they start chattering as they did, it was time to change them. I hate chattering wipers.

I was a Bosch wiper blade user for eons... Until the last few years, their blades just don’t last and turn to shit in 6mos time (even when maintaining them) and especially for their rather high cost; I stopped buying them.

I decided to try the RainX blades from the local WalMart. Figured if they don‘t work, the cost of two complete RainX blades was far less than losing what it normally cost me for two BOSCH blades.

Bought the RainX blades, installed and guess what - they work perfectly and look exactly like the original OEM blades. They don’t skip, chatter, streak or smear and they work excellent in rain (heavy & light) and still work great in winter for snow/slush.
