Agreed. FJG can stand alone too. Mainly cause it is the "signature" color of the Mach 1. If you see that color, stripes or not, you KNOW its a Mach 1... :)
I actually prefer FJG no stripes HEAVILY. That has always been no question in my mind.

ME TOO :) I promptly got rid of the side stripes on mine . I'm even considering getting rid of the Mach 1 badges on the fenders since they don't have locating pins. I do like the hood stripe though. It is getting a few marks on it, so I might peel it too eventually and polish it all back out..

To me this difference here is clear, but subtle.

It’s interesting, I seem to mind the graphics less in person, but I really don’t prefer them in photos of my car. I can’t say I don’t like them. I couldn’t really put my finger on what was bothering me, but I think that’s what it is.

IMO, I think it’s an iykyk situation with the Mach’s and 350’s without stripes. You have the bumper, the fender flares, painted mirrors, the wing, the diffuser, badges. I’m under the impression too, 350’s actually came with the stripe delete. Here’s some more pics I found of both.

This.

More of my opinion on this. Most people will just think "cool Mustang". The badges alone will help them identify which version, if they even care.

The iykyk crowd will recognize it's a Mach 1, even after stripes delete, for the reasons you stated here.

The big matte black hood decal hides so much of that beautiful gloss red. It doesn't go with it at all. But all Mach's have to come from the factory with it, so...

It's your car. So make it yours. Do it. You won't regret it!

What difference? 😜

The difference is close to zero visually. The hood drowns in all that colour. The Mach 1 hood vinyl is better than any stripes to me, works great with all the matter anthracite constrasts, I'm very fond of it. But each to his own. With red it at least looks great naked too, unlike the primer FJG :)

Cheeky!!!

Charlemagne, would you say the same for the 350 versus 2017 GT?

The majority of non-car people can’t tell the difference between an Ecoboost and a GT500, much less anything in between. And they don’t care. Do what you want, make it yours and do it for you. That’s my approach, most people won’t notice or care anyways.

Except burble tunes. Always say no to burble tunes 🤭

Let me add more controversy. I think the Handling Package Mach 1’s look better without the decals, where as I think the Non-Handling Package Mach 1’s look better with the decals. I feel the NHP cars resemble the 60’s cars way way more.

Pretty much. It has different front fascia and not much else visually.
Enthusiasts easilly tell them apart but generally the differences are quite small changes.
Tons of people put GT500 or Mach 1 mask on their Ecoboost/GT, no logos or vinyls, and it's hard to say what model it even is.

Curious what you guys think about deleting the hood, but keeping the side. I’m leaning towards all or nothing, but considering this.

I prefer stripe-less for pretty much every vehicle on the road, including Mach 1, GT500, GT350, etc. But I also don't like badges either, so really I just like a clean look overall.

Count me in the keep the stripes club, but if you prefer the clean look by all means!

Part of me is also considering keep the side stripes only, since that’s what pays homage to the 1969 Mach, and removing the hood stripe as that’s what pays homage to the 04. Which I care less about than the classic.

I agree with everyone else here, do with your car exactly what you want although I understand soliciting opinions. Sometimes others have seen something you haven't.

With that said, personally I'd try to replicate this look - matte or shiny black larger (what?!) hood stripe and higher side stripes. I mean, race red is a phenomenal color, but this pic represents best the Mach look that resonates with me.

Haters gonna hate. "My car, go away."

the hood stripe is a replica of the 71-73 stripe man, not the 03/04
