Removing Hood & Side Stripes

Thinking of removing my hood and side stripes. The look is actually really growing on me. Anyone have pics of theirs done? Maybe a Race Red…? Thanks!

I don’t think that’s the move. The stripes don’t make the Mach 1, but it adds character IMHO.

Lotsa guys have done it but to me it makes it look like a GT with an aftermarket Mach bumper.

OP, how do you plan to remove the graphics? If it was me, I would wait for a 90F+ sunny day to see if that is enough to not add any extra heat. Start with the rocker stripes.

I never cared for the Mach 1 graphics. I like the solid red much better.

To be honest I have a paint correction and ceramic coat at Chicago Auto Pros later this May, so I’d ask them to remove them so I don’t mess anything up lol.

I understand both opinions of how it makes the car look more lowkey, but also some say it looks more clean. Also, sorry I opened up another thread on this, I found there’s a ton of them, but still fun to discuss I suppose. It’s interesting, I seem to mind the graphics less in person, but I really don’t prefer them in photos of my car. I can’t say I don’t like them. I couldn’t really put my finger on what was bothering me, but I think that’s what it is.

IMO, I think it’s an iykyk situation with the Mach’s and 350’s without stripes. You have the bumper, the fender flares, painted mirrors, the wing, the diffuser, badges. I’m under the impression too, 350’s actually came with the stripe delete. Here’s some more pics I found of both.

With that said, I think certain colors can stand on their own without the stripes / decals. Race Red is one of those colors. Let the lines and the color speak for themselves. Having a different color spoiler / mirror caps can add a little extra if needed / wanted.

Part of me is also considering keep the side stripes only, since that’s what pays homage to the 1969 Mach, and removing the hood stripe as that’s what pays homage to the 04. Which I care less about than the classic.

Agreed. FJG can stand alone too. Mainly cause it is the "signature" color of the Mach 1. If you see that color, stripes or not, you KNOW its a Mach 1...
