Hi first post here. I had a 2021 mustang with less than 13000 miles and i had an accident a month ago. Insurance deemed total loss because airbag went out. The only reason i let go of it was i got a good deal deal from the insurance. Now i was browsing through local copart and saw that the car was in auction. I’m thinking if it is worth to bid on the car. Front frame is slightly bent, bumper, passenger fender and hood has to be replaced.

if you can do the work yourself, it's worth it. If you have to use other shops, it can be expensive. Then you have no warranty to fall back on for other issues. I've owned salvaged cars in the past and they were all great, but it's a risk. Good luck!

Worth it would have been you had the opportunity to owner retain it after they paid you off. That would have been your opportunity to buy it for the lowest price possible instead of bidding against everyone else that is looking to make a profit.

Agree, if you had any chance of turning this into a good deal would have been to start there. Now you're pretty much stuck having to build this yourself, and if you have that ability you certainly can still make it a worthwhile investment. But this pretty much throws out the opportunity to have someone else work on it and still come out on top.

A lot of times they won’t let you because they’re afraid of liability if you hurt yourself with it.

Mustangs are hugely popular to rebuild and/or part out. They are often bought by people, or companies, with a great deal of experience at that. Then factor in the higher price of cars and the difficulty of finding parts that has caused auction cars to escalate in price. All that can make it difficult for amateurs and DIYers to come out ahead.
As others have said, if you can do ALL of the work yourself it might be possible to come out alright.
My suggestion to you is to carefully estimate what all the parts will cost along with anything you cannot do (frame work, painting, module/belt restoration, etc) and set a top limit to your bid and then strictly stick to it.
Don't forget to figure auction fees and transportation into the auction price.
Also don't forget the bureaucracy, paperwork and cost involved in meeting whatever rules/laws in your state to prove the car is safe and street worthy in order to register it again.

Build a FFR Daytona and put the mustang guts into it. Then you ll have a 2600 lb fast and on rails car .

Ignoring the effort and expense of rebuilding a vehicle with a salvage title, there are several other things to consider:

1. It can be very difficult to get the car registered.
2. You may only be able to get liability insurance and even that is questionable.
3. It will be very difficult to sell.

Of course, if you are planning to use it solely for track, than you wouldn't need to consider these things.

If i ever get it back im not really planning to sell it. And based in what i looked up in my state I need a certified body shop in order to get a rebuilt title

Don't forget about insurance. I'm not trying to discourage you, just making sure you do your homework, first. I have bought cars with rebuilt titles and it was a real hassle. Every state is different.
